The Commissioner for Information in Gombe State, Umar Suleiman, has said a powerful group within the Peoples Democratic Party is mounting pressure on Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo to contest as the party’s presidential candidate because of his vast experience in financial management. Suleiman, in a statement on Saturday, said what Nigeria needs at the moment is a financial expert who could turn around the nation’s fortunes by deploying sound skills to manage men and resources. He said, “What Nigeria needs is someone that has a good financial and management background. Sule lamido paid solidarity visit to Sango ahead of thanks giving prayers .

APC distances self from Buhari’s controversial board appointments

  The national chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, John Oyegun, has said the party should not be blamed for the controversy that trailed President Muhammadu Buhari’s recent board appointments as it was not fully involved in the process. The chairman, while speaking with journalists on Saturday in Abuja, said the appointments had caused enough controversy. Mr. Oyegun said the party was involved in the early stage of the process but was not consulted at the end, ”otherwise some of the fully obvious problems in that list wouldn’t have been there.” He urged the presidency to consult it in any future amendments to the list so as to avoid other anomalies. “The list has caused enough controversy. Jumbo Xmas, New Year Celebrations for Ekiti APC members as Fayemi gets N350m to buy gifts

From all indications, there will be a bumper Christmas and New Year celebrations for members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State as a whooping sum of N350 million was said to have be given to the Minister for Steel and Minerals Resources Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi to buy gifts and share in cash to members of the party and some notable traditional rulers in the State. Youths caution against politicizing Olukere's detention over alleged involvement in murder

The Ikere Ekiti Youths Vanguard has cautioned politicians against attempt to make political capital out of the alleged murder case against the Olukere of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin. According to the youths spokesperson, Bayo Ogunleye, the attack on Olukere's hotel had no political link, it was a business disagreement between a lodger in the hotel and the management. They said there was no how anyone can defend the Olukere's leading "boys" from Ikere Ekiti to Ado Ekiti on Christmas day to carry out a reprisal attacks on those who attacked his hotel.
