Malpractices: WAEC withdraws 1992, 1993 candidates’ certificates... See list The West African Examinations Council has released the list of impounded certificates of candidates, who were believed to have engaged in malpractices during its examinations held as far back as December 1992 and 1993. The council released the examination years and certificate numbers of the affected candidates, noting that the nature of their malpractices was impersonation. Our correspondent sighted the list of indicted WAEC candidates as published in the weekly bulletin of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board released on Monday. In the JAMB bulletin, WAEC identified the candidates as, “Ukaumunna C. December 1992 examination with certificate number, NGSP 0233613; Chinna H. December 1993 with certificate number, NGSP 0572427; Koffi E. December 1993, with number NGSP 0455669; and Oham J. December 1994, with certificate number, NGSP 0177271.” Others are “Mbara G. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Nomadic Education, Prof. Bashir Usman, in Zaria, Kaduna State, on Tuesday, said the remodelling of grazing reserves into ranches  was part of efforts to transform  the country’s livestock industry. He said this at a three-day capacity building workshop on the remodelling of grazing reserves into ranches. Ekere drags 'decomposing' case to supreme court By Kpebo Thomas Likened by the Appellate Court to a “decomposing corpse”, a petition by Nsima Ekere of the All Progressives  Congress, challenging the victory of Governor Udom Emmanuel at the March 9, 2019 Governorship election has been filed at the supreme court, Abuja. The Appeal which was filed by the APC and its Governorship candidate, at the Supreme Court on November 25, 2019 is founded on eleven grounds, and holds that the Learned Justices of the Appellate Court erred in law in their ruling. Among five reliefs sought from the Supreme Court, by Mr. Ekere and the APC include an order for the nullifying of the State Governorship election of  March 9, 2019, and an order on INEC to conduct fresh election into the office of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State. Court Orders Forfeiture of Sen. Saraki's Billion Naira Properties  A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi,  Lagos on Monday, December 2, 2019, ordered for interim forfeiture of the Ilorin residence of the the immediate past Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki.  The Ilorin Zonal Office of the EFCC had approached the Court Presided over by Justice Ridwan Aikawa for an order of interim forfeiture of about one billion naira property located at 1, Abdulkadir street,  G.R.A, Ilorin, Kwara State on the grounds that it was acquired through the proceeds of unlawful activity.  Ruling on the exparte application filed by EFCC Lawyer, Rotimi Oyedipo to Justice Aikawa ordered the interim forfeiture of the property and said the Court Order should be published in a National Newspapers.  For details of this and other stories, visit EFCC website: www.efccnigeria.org

BREAKING: Five die, 10 injured as inmates electrocuted at Ikoyi Prison   Some inmates at Ikoyi Prison, now known as Ikoyi Custodial Centre, have been electrocuted. According to TheCable,  the incident took place on Monday morning. It is unclear the number of inmates who were affected but there are reports that while five inmates lost their lives, 10 sustained injuries in the incident. Rauf Aregbesola, minister of interior, has ordered a probe of the incident. In a statement issued by ‪Jane Osuji, press secretary to the minister, Aregbesola said update on the development would be shared “in a few hours”. “The attention of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has been drawn to an electrocution incident at the Ikoyi Medium Security Prison in Lagos,” the statement read. “The Minister has directed a quick investigation into the root cause and the ministry will in the next few hours share a comprehensive update on the incidence. “While we commiserate with the victims of ...

Niger LG polls: APC sweeps 22, PDP wins 1, 2 declare inconclusive The All Progressive Party (APC) in Niger State has won 22 chairmanship positions out of 25, leaving the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with one chairmanship victory while two local governments were declared inconclusive. Announcing the results at Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC), in Minna on Sunday, the chairman, Alhaji Aminu Baba, said nine political parties participated in the just concluded local government elections. According to him, 85 candidates participated in the chairmanship pools while 661 councillorship candidates contested the election across the 25 local government areas of the state. Baba also said that the chairmanship election in Mashegu and Tara local governments were inconclusive. Also declared inconclusive were six councillorship elections in six wards.
