Ekiti State governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has said the feat achieved in the education sector is the most important achievement of his government in two years stressing that the feat is more important than the construction of flyover, Oja Oba or any other project his administration has embarked upon since assuming office in 2014. The governor said this on Friday during an interface with members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Ekiti State Chapter within the government house premises. The session was organized for the purpose of promoting and sustaining the feat achieved in the education sector in governor Fayose's two years in office. Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the continuous detention of the immediate past Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Shema by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as further demonstration of the anti-graft agency’s lack of respect for the fundamental rights of Nigerians as provided by the country’s 1999 constitution, saying; “EFCC should release him immediately or charge him to court if there is any evidence of corruption against him rather than acting as if it is law unto itself.” Governor Fayose, who decried the continuous reign of impunity by the EFCC, noted that; “It is on record that former governor Ibrahim Shema reported at the EFCC office in Abuja by himself on September 16 and 12 days after, he is still being detained by the EFCC and one cannot but ask where EFCC derived its powers to first arrest Nigerians, detain them and be searching for evidences to prosecute them later.” According to the governor’s Special Assistant on Public Com...

The nation’s electricity woes may worsen in the coming weeks as liquidity and gas supply issues are threatening the operation of its biggest power station, Egbin. The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Egbin Power Plc, Mr. Dallas Peavey Jr., told our correspondent in an exclusive interview that the owners of the plant might be forced to consider shutting it down if the challenges remain unresolved. Egbin, which is located in Lagos, was acquired in 2013 by Kepco Energy Resource Limited in collaboration with its technical partner, Korea Electric Power Corporation, during the privatisation of the successor companies carved out of the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria. Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom, so the Psalmist prayed unto to the Lord. The Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Bisi Kolawole surely was well taught by the Lord and he understood. Why won't he praise the Lord and sing hallelujah, he is a man that has blessed in the true sense of the word. Hon. Bisi Kolawole hit the diamond age of 60 on the 20th day of September 2016, though you'll want to argue he doesn't look it, far younger than that. The celebration was not a noisy one, it was simple, the type you have in church(special service) with few family members and associates, not with pump and pageantry, that was the type he had in his Efon Alaaye hometown yesterday. The moment of deep reflection and appreciation of God's goodness continued on Wednesday with a visit to Erelu Adebayo Motherless Babies' home in Iyin Ekiti. It was his first time of visiting such a place and every minute spent there was emotional. The c...

[image_0] The Police have invited the representative of Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu, for questioning over allegations of threat to life lodged against him by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu. Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, disclosed this in his written address to a counter-affidavit filed in a fundamental rights enforcement suit by Kashamu. The affidavit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/647/2016 described the suit as speculative and an attempt by Kashamu to among others restrain the police from performing its statutory responsibilities of investigating criminal allegations against him. Idris urged the court to dismiss the suit as it was capable of sending wrong signals. The counter-affidavit reads in parts: “Both the applicant and the 3rd respondent (Adebutu) have made allegations of crime against each other and it is the duty of the 1st respondent (IGP) to investigate and make findings. “This court cannot restrai...

Ondo Guber: Ekiti youths condemn Fayemi’s alleged donation of N700m to Akeredolu

The Ekiti Progressives Youths (EPY) has described the alleged donation of over N700 million by the Minister of Solid Minerals and former governor of the State, Dr Kayode Fayemi to support the emergence of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State as another clear display of insensitivity to the plight of the people of Ekiti State. Rising from its quarterly meeting in Ado-Ekiti on Tuesday, the EPY said in a communique signed by its President and Secretary, Mr Samuel Adekunle and Comrade Roland Adewale respectively that it was painful that Fayemi should rather return the billions he looted from the Ekiti State treasury instead of using the fund to fight political battle. The communique read: “Our attention has been drawn the reported donation of over N700 million by Dr Kayode Fayemi to ensure the victory of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) in the last Saturday governorship primary election of the APC in Ondo State. ...

More Illegal Structures to give way for Ado Flyover

Ekiti State government will from Monday 12th of September 2016 commence the demolition of illegal structures along Bashiri/Fajuyi road in Ado-Ekiti the state capital to give way for the road expansion brought about by the construction of the 1.2km Fajuyi/Ojumose flyover. APC’s Lack of Vision, Incompetence and Poor Handling of Economy Caused Recession, Not Dr. Jonathan Says The PDP

September 4, 2016 Press Statement APC’s Lack of Vision, Incompetence and Poor Handling of Economy Caused Recession, Not Dr. Jonathan Says The PDP Our attention has once again been drawn to the recent inconsiderate statement attributed to the Governor of Jigawa State, Abubakar Badaru and similar comments from people of like minds to the effect that the previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Administration was responsible for the current Economic Recession. It is really disappointing that a notable personality as highly placed as a State Governor could be drawn into making idle and pedestrian claims without the benefit of facts. It is either he does not realize the obligation of speaking responsibly in that position or he is grossly ill-informed; in which case, we could only try to put the facts before him, and hoping he would recognize them. In the first place, this blame is misplaced because our elementary understanding of economics teaches us that the major cause of recess...
