Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication

The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public.

“Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read.

The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submission of primary election winners’ names to INEC. Likewise, INEC maintains its own timetable for every stage of the electoral process.

“The official INEC Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2026 Ekiti Governorship Election clearly states that January 16, 2026, is the final day for political parties to submit their nomination forms. Governor Oyebanji’s name will be submitted on that day - no earlier, no later,” the statement clarified.
The caucus also criticized the individuals spreading the rumour, saying they are followers of a disqualified aspirant who continues to undermine the party despite receiving direct presidential instructions to cooperate with Governor Oyebanji.

“Governor Oyebanji emerged through a consensus arrangement endorsed by party leaders and ratified during the primary. He remains the validly elected candidate of the APC. There is no controversy,” the caucus added.

Adding weight to the clarification, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Barrister Segun Dipe, stated that INEC is scheduled to publish the official list of candidates for the June 20, 2026, Ekiti Governorship Election on January 19, 2026. He further emphasized that there is no “Certificate of Return” for any candidate at this stage.
According to the authentic INEC list:

APC: Incumbent Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO)

ADC: Dare Bejide

PDP: Dr. Wole Oluyede

SDP: Engr. David Bankole

NNPP: Blessing Abegunde

Accord: Opeyemi David Falegan

LP: Prof. Oyebanji Olajuyin

The APC Integrity Caucus urged party faithful and the public to disregard all baseless rumours and focus on the democratic process moving strictly according to schedule.
