PRESS STATEMENT: APC Youths caution party against blocking FG bailout to Ekiti

Youths in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, under the aegis of Ekiti APC Youths Congress (EAYC) have cautioned the party against any move that could prevent the State from benefitting from the Federal Government bailout Fund, which is aimed at assisting States that are unable to pay workers salary to do so. The youths, who reacted to the alleged plot being spearheaded by some leaders of the APC in Abuja to stop Ekiti State from getting the federal government bailout fund, said it will be wicked for anyone to want the people of the State, especially the workers to surfer because of politics. In a press statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday and jointly signed by Mr Tope Ogunkuade and Comrade Tunji Adeleye, Convener and Secretary respectively, the EAYC reiterated their advice to leaders of the APC to prepare for 2018 instead of wasting time and resources on Fayose’s removal, which has failed to materialise since 2014. The youths said since Ekiti State Governmen...

Edo 2016: INEC counters Sheriff's claim - PDP Rebirth Group

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed  reports by the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff that the Commission did not monitor the PDP Gubernatorial Primary Election held on Monday, June 20, 2016 in Edo State. Speaking to the media in Abuja on Friday, June 24, 2016 on behalf of the leadership of the PDP Rebirth Group,  Comrade Frankline Edede said, Senator Sheriff is a serial liar and will say anything to defend his infantile behaviour. "PDP members nationwide and the general public can now see how Senator Sheriff's desperation has resulted to telling lies even against INEC. First of all, he claimed that he has a Court Order that gave him legitimacy to remain as Chairman of our Party and sold this dummy to the former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase and the media during his obnoxious press conference at the Party's National Secretariat. At another point, he told those who care to...

APC moves to block Ekiti from benefiting from FG bailout to pay workers salary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State will on Monday, next week submit a petition to President Mohammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun to block the State from benefitting from the Federal Government bailout Fund aimed at assisting States to pay workers salary. Ekiti State Government already fulfilled all conditions prescribed by the Federal Government to benefit in the bailout fund so as to cushion the effects of the dwindling economy, which has made 28 States unable to pay workers salary. Chieftains of the APC in Ekiti State, including the former Senator representing Ekiti Central, Baafemi Ojudu, immediate past Commissioner for Finance, Dapo Kolawole, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) and the party’s spokesperson; Taiwo Olatunbosu met in the Abuja office of Ojudu alongside the former State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Temitope Aluko and two others yesterday, where it was agreed that ...

Leaked: Presidency Plots Fayose's Assassination

Nigerian Mirror has gathered authoritatively that there are thick plots ongoing to silence Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State. Ayodele Fayose of the People's Democratic Party is the leading voice against the APC led Federal Government. Consistently, like a lone ranger, hiding under the shield of Section 308 of the Nigerian constitution, Fayose has been voraciously exposing the so many rots embedded in APC, the deceits and propaganda associated with APC, the ill health, mental and physical abilities of President Buhari to lead a complex country like Nigeria; and also known to have been speaking against the double standard, and hypocrisy of APC. The plots to silence Fayose, according to NM Source came to climax with the latest exposure of Aisa Buhari's culpability in the Halliburton Bribery Scandal. Governor Ayodele Fayose, had on Monday resuscitated a controversy surrounding the role played by Aisha, President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife, in the messy bribery scand...

Let every region be semi-autonomous and develop at its own level; on Aburi accord I stand ~ Femi Adesina

In December 2009, I was at Aburi, while holidaying in Ghana. We Nigerians call it A-b-u-r-i, but the Ghanaians pronounce it as E-b-r-i. For those who have read widely about the civil war that we fought between 1967 and 1970, Aburi is a significant place. This was what I wrote about Aburi, after returning from that journey: “Aburi. Beautiful, serene Aburi, set daintily atop a hill. It is home to a botanical garden that is 119 years old. But for us in Nigeria, Aburi goes beyond just nature and its preservation. It is the town where General Yakubu Gowon and Odumegwu Ojukwu met, to try and avert the Nigerian Civil War that lasted between 1967 and 1970. They came out with Aburi Accord, which later broke down. And a shooting war started. You could see the Presidential Lodge on a hill, where the Nigerian leaders had parleyed at the behest of Ghanaian leaders. It all ended in futility.” As one of the key parties to the Aburi Accord, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, returns to mot...

School feeding programme is a fraud, I won't contribute to it, Fayose tells FG

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said that the school feeding programme of the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government must be done without the proposed 40 per cent counterpart funding from States. He said the Federal Government was already looking for an excuse for the impending failure of the programme by asking states to contribute 40 per cent to the scheme. The governor, who said his state was interested in the scheme, added that the school feeding programme was purely a contract between the APC-led Federal Government and Nigerians. “Were the States consulted before the APC made the promise during the presidential campaign? How can you make a promise and win election on the basis of that promise and now expect States to help you to fulfil the promise? That to me is fraud!” Fayose in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said Ekiti and other states in the country deserved to bene...
