Ending the Exploitation of Faith: Advocating for Ethical Practices

By Debola Akingbade   June 30, 2024 In today's world, the manipulation of faith for personal gain has become alarmingly prevalent. Human souls, seeking solace and spiritual fulfillment, often find themselves vulnerable to those who exploit both their physical and emotional needs through religion.  This exploitation manifests in various forms, from threats of eternal damnation to coercive demands for financial contributions under the guise of divine obligation. Leaders adept at exploiting these vulnerabilities twist religious teachings to fit their own agendas, creating a dependency that undermines the true essence of faith.  Instead of nurturing spiritual growth and propagating genuine community, these practices sow fear and dependency. What Christ originally commissioned us to preach is clear: the Kingdom of God/Kingdom of Heaven, the Love of Christ, His sacrificial death on the cross according to scripture, His resurrection on the third day (1 Corinthia...

It’s been said that every executive member has a price tag."  The source continued, "This is not acceptable at all. We would rather destroy everything than let one person dictate the direction of the party." This sentiment has sparked significant unrest among party members, many of whom are deeply concerned about the implications of such central control.  "We cannot allow an individual to take total control of the party. It's not just about these two personalities; it's about what this says about our justice system. Shouldn't everyone, regardless of who they are, be treated equally? However, ...

Baba Ijesha was convicted on July 14, 2022, for the sexual assault of a minor, and Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) sentenced him to five years in prison. During Tuesday's hearing, a three-man panel led by Justice Folasade Ojo listened to Baba Ijesha's appeal and reserved judgment, with the date yet to be communicated.
