FG bailout - PDP condemns petition against Ekiti State by APC

The attempt by the All Progressive Congress to block the fresh bailout to Ekiti state for the payment of salaries of workers has been condemned by the Peoples Democratic party in the state.

PDP described the petition written by the All Progressive Congress against the state government to President Mohammadu Buhari not to grant the request for the bailout to pay the arrears of the salaries of the civil servants in the state as a wickedness manufactured in the name of politics without minding the consequences on the civil servants who are mostly the breadwinners in their families.

In a statement by the State Publicity Secretary of PDP in Ekiti state, Mr Jackson Adebayo which was made available to journalists on Sunday in ado Ekiti, PDP stated that by the petition , the opposition APC in the state has confirmed that its penchant for poor life for the public servants in Ekiti is very paramount to them even when Governor Ayodele Fayose is working out an alternative to the economic mess which the Buhari-led federal government has dragged Nigeria into.

Adebayo described the APC petition as horrible and an open expression of hatred for the people of Ekiti state especially the workforce in the civil and teaching service, adding that those who proposed the idea should be stoned.

The PDP spokesman noted that it became appalling reading that one of the proponent of the petition, Senator Babafemi Ojudu was quoted as follows  "We are not actually saying the federal government should discard Ekiti State request, but we are of the opinion that if the federal
government grant the bailout to Fayose-led administration, and the workers who repeatedly rejected our party in several elections years back feel relieved, I wonder how APC will regain the state in 2018.

"Hence, we must do everything within our powers and influence to frustrate this bailout from getting to Ekiti. If we don’t, we can as
well kiss our aspiration of returning to power in the State goodbye
because the only reason Ekiti people are listening to us is because of the unpaid worker's salaries. The moment workers begin to get their salaries, their love for Fayose and the PDP will be further
strengthened and that is not good for us.

“Therefore, it will be better for the workers to continue to suffer if
that will guarantee our return to power and when we return in 2018"

According to PDP, this statement has given credence to the insinuations that leadership of the APC especially in Ekiti State are recklessly wicked with full passion for and in the suffering of the people especially the civil servants as witnessed in the last administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi.

PDP stressed that the reason adduced for the writing of the petition against allowing the fresh bailout for the state after all the conditions have been met by the government is not only pedestrian but outrageously callous. "It is a selfishness carried too far"

Adebayo however said that there is no amount of dangerous tantrum being thrown by the opposition in the state that can set back the developmental agenda of the PDP government led by an experienced Governor Ayo Fayose.

"As a party we can only advise the leadership of the APC to desist from their evil plans against the people and government of the state all the time as no amount of dangerous tantrum being thrown by the opposition in the state can set back the developmental agenda of the PDP government led by an experienced Governor Ayo Fayose."

Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
