APC indict Jonathan in alleged N15 billion Mimiko's re-election fund

•Former President Goodluck Jonathan’s men are being held or prosecuted by the Buhari-led administration for alleged corruption

•He has now been reportedly fingered by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an allegation the party is making against Governor Mimiko

•The party is threatening to invite the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to Ondo state to probe its allegation against the governor

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has again been drawn into allegations against Governor Olusegun Mimiko by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Olusegun-Mimiko is alleged to have spent state allocation for re-election
This time, the ex-president is accused of approving a huge sum drawn from the federal purse to the governor for him to prosecute his second term election in the state.

The APC in Ondo state has put the sum at N15 billion spent by Governor Mimiko for his re-election in 2012.

Political activities are daily heating up in the state ahead of the the governorship election later this year and the APC currently has about 51 contenders for the position.

Sahara Reporters quoted Omo’ba Abayomi Adesanya, publicity secretary of the party in state, as saying in a statement: “We have it on good authority that, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, the executive governor of Ondo state, collected the sum of fifteen billion Naira (N15b) from the federation account on the 15th day of November 2012, which he personally signed for.

“The action of the governor is totally against due process. It was deliberately orchestrated to siphon public funds, which has gone into private pockets with no records of it in the state.”

The Herald also reports that the APC further claimed that Goodluck Jonathan personally ordered the release of the funds to Mimiko for his re-election.

The APC spokesman further said the amount was received through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) into a personal account in a deal with some cronies of the governor in the finance ministry.

A statement from him said further: “Governor Mimiko received the funds in November 2012 through the bank accounts of his cronies through the ministry of Finance from the Central Bank of Nigeria
Adesanya threatened to petition the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), if Mimiko did not explain the reasons for the diversion of the fund.

The statement said: “We hereby give the governor a seven-day ultimatum to address the people of the State on the diverted N15 billion and refund the money to the treasury of Ondo State forthwith.

“If he fails to meet these conditions within seven days, we will have no option than to write petitions to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to help the suffering people of Ondo State to recover the N15 billion from the pockets of Governor Olusegun Mimiko and his friends.”
Meanwhile, the commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade, has revealed that a total of N3. 574 billion was allocated to the state government from the federation account for June.

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
