Quest for the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) towards the 2018 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State is now tearing the party apart as two senatorial chairmen of the party have been axed.
The party's Vice Chairman (North Senatorial district), Mr Wale Aina has been expelled while his counterpart for Ekiti Central, Chief Femi George Ojo (Saribi) was suspended.
The duo were accused of working against the governorship ambition of the Minister for Solid Minerals, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
Wale Aina who is from Moba Local Government was expelled for allegedly working for a certain governorship aspirant from Omuo Ekiti, Ekiti East Local Government while Chief George Ojo was suspected to be working for the former governorship aspirant of the Labour Party (LP), Hon Opeyemi Bamidele.
Both George Ojo and Opeyemi Bamidele are from Iyin Ekiti, Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Though the suspension of George Ojo and expulsion of Wale Aina is being kept away from the press to avoid the crisis in the party from being known by the public, a top leader of the party said all was not well among the party leaders.
"Fayemi's latest ambition to contest the 2018 governorship election under the APC is causing a lot of apprehension and they are now suspecting everyone.
"A lot of people were not aware that the food items shared at Fayemi's campaign office few days ago caused disaffection among the party members. Many of our members were of the opinion that the food items ought to have been distributed at the State Party Secretariat and not Fayemi's campaign office," a leader of the party said.
