As the Edo State governorship election hots up, the immediate past Chairman of Etsako Central Local Government Area, Hon Emmanuel Momoh, has left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
The former council boss, who defected alongside other top APC leaders in the area, declared support for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, saying the government of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is an expired product.
Speaking at an impromptu rally held at his residence in Fugar, Hon Momoh said he resigned from the APC to fulfil his long desire to follow Ize-Iyamu whom he said he believes in.
He added that Oshiomhole was ungrateful with their huge supports during the last governorship election.
He said, “Undue caution breeds stagnation. I am coming out to declare to the whole world today that I resign my membership of the APC and I have decided to join the PDP.”
The PDP state Chairman, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, who received the defectors, thanked them for joining the winning team, noting that it would be easy to deliver Etsako to PDP.
On his part, Ize-Iyamu who welcomed Hon Momoh back to the PDP, stressed that there would be no discrimination against them. He added that during the last presidential election, the PDP won four of the six local governments in Edo North where the governor is a native. He said that with the combined effort of all and sundry, PDP is assured of winning all six local government areas of Edo North to make the victory in the state 18/18.
The PDP candidate said that a date would be set aside to formally receive all the APC leaders who were willing to join the PDP, noting that the battle to redeem the state was one that must be won against the agents of darkness which currently holds the reins of power in the state.
