Ize-Iyamu Campaign Organisation Raises Alarm Over Use of State Fund For APC Candidate Campaign

The Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Campaign Organisation has raised alarm over huge disbursement of Edo State financial resources to fund the campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Media Unit of the campaign organisation, said the draining of the state’s resources by Governor Adams Oshiomhole to promote his puppet candidate for the September 10 governorship election is coming at a time when many local government councils are being owed between 15 and 17 month salaries.

The organisation said it is raising the alarm because of the authentic reports it received of billions of naira the out-going governor disbursed on Wednesday to oil the APC structures in the 18 local government areas for the 'settlement' of party supporters and to convey rented crowd to the kick-off of APC’s governorship campaign on Saturday.

The Campaign Organisation said it "received solid evidence on Thursday that Governor Oshiomhole at a stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Benin City on Wednesday, disbursed billions of Naira of Edo State fund to all APC leaders in 18 local government areas 'rent' people to attend the APC campaign rally on Saturday, in order to create the impression that a huge crowd attended the rally".

‘’We are worried because Edo State’s fund is being frivolously disbursed to promote the APC candidate at a time Adams Oshiomhole is saying there is no money to pay local government council workers’ salaries for months.’’

It requested the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-corruption agencies to investigate this unbridled use of Edo State fund to promote a private candidate in the coming election, noting that Oshiomhole has had to resort to panic measures because of the crowd the PDP is pulling in all nooks and crannies of the state.

‘’It is shocking that at the time Oshiomhole is recklessly wasting the state fund for the promotion of Godwin Obaseki’s governorship ambition, our people are languishing in abject poverty, with Local government under his watch owing several months of unpaid salaries while basic social and health amenities are not available in our local government areas. This is a crime against the people, God and all mankind, "such money being frittered away by the governor should have been used to pay outstanding salaries and provide health care for the population, especially such care as promised by Pastor Ize-Iyamu to convey patients from primary to secondary and tertiary systems, using ambulance” the statement added.

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
