PDP crisis: Sheriff-led faction threatens Makarfi-led committee with legal action

The Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction of the PDP, has threatened to take disciplinary legal action against the Sen. Ahmed Makarfi -led national caretaker committee if it continues to speak for the party.

A statement issued by Mr Bernard Mikko, acting National Publicity Secretary of Sheriff-led faction, warned that a court order had declared the committee illegal.

He recalled that a Federal High Court presided over by Justice Okon Abang in Abuja had declared the Makarfi caretaker `contraption’ as illegal.

Sheriff-Makarfi “It will therefore be contemptuous of the court order for Prince Dayo Adeyeye or any member of the illegal Makarfi caretaker contraption to speak for the PDP when a valid court order to the contrary is still subsisting,” Mikko said.

Mikko said that the attention of the faction’s National Working Committee had been drawn to various comments on the state of affairs in the PDP. He said that various comments were credited to “one Prince Dayo Adeyeye’’ who claimed to be speaking as the national publicity secretary (National Caretaker Committee), particularly as the reconciliation process appears to have relapsed.

He explained that the reconciliation relapsed due to Makarfi’s insistence not to disband his caretaker committee when Sheriff is inclined to step down at the next unity convention of the party The convention is expected to usher in new executive members of the party.

Mikko said:“Adeyeye is hereby reminded that the terms of the MoU for reconciliation did not vitiate subsisting court orders without prejudice to pending legal matters. “While we will respect the terms of the MoU in the reconciliation process, we will not fail to activate the legal processes and hold them in contempt for any breach of the law.

“If they continue the impunity and act in disobedience of the law, disciplinary legal procedures, particularly forms 48 and 49 will be processed against them.’’

Mikko however assured PDP members and stakeholders of Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff’s commitment to resolve the leadership imbroglio in accordance with the law. (NAN)

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
