2017 will be fantastic for Ekiti women -Fayose

23/11/2016

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has said 2017 will be a year of good tidings for women in the state with his government's budgeting of over #1b in next year's budget for their wellbeing.

Governor Fayose made this known during a meeting with Suppliers and Tipper Owners' Association at the Government House Arcade on Wednesday.

He said, "2017 is the year of prosperity, abundance, discovery, help and support for the average Ekiti woman, I want us to do everything to continue to support and reposition our women. When you reposition a woman, you are repositioning a whole family and you are repositioning the country.

"It will be a thing of joy if everybody will cooperate and join me rediscover Ekiti women, most of us who are their husband sometimes intimidate them, we should stop this intimidation. We should help extract the good in them so they could become more matured and fruitful.

"When you help a woman, she will help her children, men can abscond, hardly will you find a woman absconding, they take responsibility, even beyond their measures. From 2017, everything humanly possible for me I will do to begin to change the drive and perception of our women to help them achieve their goals".

It would also be recalled that the Fayose administration earlier in November set up a Women Conference Committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr(Mrs) Modupe Alade with the mandate to mobilise 100,000 women from across the state and harmonise programs that will better their lot.

Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
