After Donating N1bn to Akeredolu’s campaign, Fayemi wants wife as Ondo SSG, Senator in 2019

A few days after he won the Ondo State Governorship election, the Ondo State Governor-elect, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) is now being pressured by the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Kayode Fayemi to appoint his wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to compensate for the N1 billion he contributed to his (Akeredolu) election.

Fayemi’s wife is from Ilaramokin in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, which is in the Central Senatorial District that is favoured to produce the (SSG).

The SSG position, sources disclosed is to serve as a stepping stone for Fayemi’s wife who is said to be interested in the Ondo Central Senatorial seat in 2019.

It will be recalled that sometimes ago, Bisi Fayemi donated three trailers of rice to Akeredolu’s campaign in her bid to get the SSG slot. Recall also that Fayemi allegedly donated N1.5 billion to the campaign fund of President Mohammadu Buhari, which many believed qualified him for the ministerial appointment that he got.

Sources said four trailers of rice and other food items were donated to the Ekiti State APC by Dangote Foundation, but Fayemi’s wife got two trailers diverted to Ondo State and handed to Akeredolu.

"The financial support her husband, Dr. Kayode Fayemi gave to our governor-elect Rotimi Akeredolu to the tune of N1 billion during our governorship election is appreciated but cannot buy her the SSG slot because we doubt if her voter's card registration was done in this state, or transferred here before the election,” a concerned member of the APC said.

Another member of the party, who craved anonymity expressed gratitude to Fayemi on his efforts toward ensuring the emergence of Akeredolu at the poll, but maintained that the
Minister should avoid anything that may truncate the brotherly relationship that exists between him and the governor-elect, owing to the fact that Ondo State people will not allow Akeredolu to appoint Bisi Fayemi as the Secretary to the State Government under any guise.

He said; “Ondo State people are aware of the ignoble roles played by Erelu Bisi Fayemi when her husband was Ekiti State governor, to the extent that she was attending night club at a popular hotel along Iworoko Road, Ado Ekiti. Her attitude and character contributed to the hatred of her husband by Ekiti people.

“Therefore, she is someone our in-coming governor must not touch even with long pole. If Fayemi wants compensation, he should have friends that are from Ondo State. He can present them for political appointments.”

Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
