Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has said the about 400 persons recently employed at the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti were asked to go because the process of their employment did not promote Equal Opportunity Policy of his administration.

He also said the process was hijacked by some people and was lopsided in nature.
Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, the governor explained that a situation that did not allow for fairness to all would never be tolerated by his government.
The governor, who was shedding more light on the recent development at EKSU, which pitted workers in the institution against the management, added that some people had 20 or more candidates that were given jobs, while children of those with no godfather stood no chance.
"The recruitment exercise done sometime this year in Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti was cancelled by the governor because it did not promote the Equal Opportunity Policy of the government. Some government officials hijacked the process and brought in their candidates. Then what about the children of the poor or people who have no godfathers? Does it mean they can't be considered? They are also citizens of the state too.
"We have a situation whereby some parents have three or more children who have graduated and are unemployed, if one of those children is given a job, it will ameliorate the plight of such a family.
"Governor Ayodele Fayose is the Visitor to Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, so, he has some constitutional rights to exercise as to what goes on there. From the outset, Governor Fayose has always shown himself as a fair person, who would want equal opportunity for everyone. He does not like people influencing the course of events.
"This attitude of fairness, transparency and equity, he demonstrates when appointments are being made. For instance, look at the process by which best teachers in primary and secondary schools are chosen during the celebration of Teachers' Day, it is done publicly and everybody has equal chance of being chosen. The same thing he did during the Civil Service Week when the best civil servants for the junior and senior categories emerged.
"We have to show that we really want an egalitarian society by our actions and deeds. No one should be denied the chance to access any opportunity in the state because he has no one to lean on in government. Everyone of us have equal rights and must not be denied such on account of anything," the CPS to the Governor said.
Adelusi said the governor frowned at the fact that the filled vacant positions were not advertised. He noted that that ought to have been the first step to be taken before applications are considered on merit.
