World AIDS day: Fayose calls for more cooperation among stakeholders



The wife of Ekiti state Governor, Her Excellency Mrs Feyisetan Fayose has called for more cooperation among stakeholders in the fight against HIV/AIDS and discrimination against people living with the disease.

This call was made on Thursday at the venue of the event organised for marking this year's world AIDS day commemoration which took place at the premises of Late Madam Funmilayo Olayinka Women Center, Ado Ekiti.

In her address, Mrs Feyisetan stressed on the need why the achievements and progress made on the fight against HIV/AIDS must not be halted by economic uncertainty created by the global financial crises.

The wife of the governor called on all tiers of government, donor partners and organisations to try by all possible means to fund global HIV programs so as to ensure the sustainability of the gains of the past decades and intensify future efforts towards stopping the epidemic.

Mrs Fayose emphasized the need to be more strategic in prevention work, ensuring basic human right protection and also the need to raise more awareness about scourge.

Her Excellency also pledge the continuous support of Ekiti State Government towards Ekiti State AIDS control agency (EKSACA) so as to be able to do more.

As part of the events marking this years commemoration, Ekiti State HIV and AIDS Prevention, control, management and anti-stigma law, 2014 was unveiled.

The event saw in attendance the presence of top government functionaries such as th Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Dr Kolapo Olusola, Speaker , Ekiti State Assembly, Rht Hon Kola Oluwawole, Commissioner for health, Hon Oluroyimi Ojo, permanent secretaries, health workers, students and host of others.

Commemoration of world's AIDS day takes place on the 1st December, every year.
