RE: LEGISLATIVE RASCALITY AS EKITI REPS MEMBER SHUNS JOURNALISTS AT THANKSGIVING EVENT

17/06/2017

My attention has been drawn to a letter to the editor, published on 4th of June,2017 by Orient Media Group ,titled “LEGISLATIVE RASCALITY AS EKITI REPS MEMBER SHUNS JOURNALISTS AT THANKSGIVING EVENT” challenging Hon. Akinyede Julius Awodumila, Former Executive Chairman of Gbonyin Local Government and currently representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives that he shunned journalists AND REPRESENTATIVE OF Ekiti State Television at the Thanksgiving ceremony organized to mark his two years as a federal lawmaker. The event was held in his residence at Ode-Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

However, this is ludicrous and mere blackmail as there was no time it happened that day. Awodumila is a reputable man with all attributes of good leader who calls everybody his leader despite his position.

On this faithful day,all Journalists, including social Media of difference groups that was present were attended to despite the stress.

Representative of Ekiti State Television and some Media groups ,most especially Lere Olayinka Media group who was represented by his Personal Assistance Aare Abegunde Abayomi, Falade Asiwaju Roland,Encyclopedia Resheed Olalekan and Media group from Ibadan were all allowed for an interview.

During the interview,Awodumila explained himself from when he was born till date. He was not only granted the interview, but also some important figures in the State like Dr (Mrs) Modupe Alade who is the Secretary to the State Government, Barr Owoseni, who is the Anthony General and Commissioner for Justices in Ekiti state, Ekiti State commissioner for Land and Housing, Chief (Mrs) Folasade Akinrinmola Faparusi who is also the current Executive Chairman of Gbonyin Local Government, Rt.Hon Tunji Odeyemi who was the Formal Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly,Chief (Mrs) Tosin Aluko who is a Commissioner 1 in Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission and others were all interviewed at the event.

You said and I quote” Some Journalists from Ekiti State Correspondents chapel and the Ekiti State Television were at the event to have a period of interview with him but were shocked to the marrow when the lawmaker spewed out shocking statements” . My question is how did Ekiti STATE Television get the copy of the event shown between 4;30-5:00pm on Sunday 4th of June if they were not allowed to cover the programme and where the above mentioned personalities were interviewed? (You can contact me for a copy of this for your confirmation)

Apart from above, you said, Some residents of Ode-Ekiti shunned the party and some of them who spoke to you lamented that they have been in darkness as a result of lack of electricity for almost three years and there hasn’t been any effort from the leaders of the town who are in high places in government to correct the situation. This is an evidence to show that all you said was lies because the event was so colorful to the extent that not less than 3,000 people across the country attended the program, let alone people from Ode-Ekiti that left no one at home.

Concerning the darkness as a result of lack of Electricity for almost three years in the Town also confirmed that none of you were at the event. Truly, Ode-Ekiti has been in darkness for more than Three years, but remember APC were in both Senate and House of Representative from that Constituency and nothing was done during their four years, but to God be the glory,God has used Awodumila for the problem since January through 2016 Budget as part of his achievements in National Assembly and this was connected from Ijasa Isu Ekiti near Ode-Ekiti,but remains little connection.

Finally, always do a good finding before Publishing lies for traitors in order not to jeopardize your chance of Publication.

APC Governorship Aspirant, Atinuke Omolayo, Participates in Delegate Congress in Emure

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
