Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose has been described by his deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola as a rare leader who does not only know the way, but walks it and encourage others to walk through it. Dr Olusola made this known while addressing mammoth crowd who'd gathered at Ifaki Ekiti in Ido Osi local government to celebrate the governor and the People's Democratic party for the victory achieved at the supreme court Abuja, on the 12th of July 2017.
The deputy Governor, while eulogizing his boss, governor Fayose, said no governor in the history of Ekiti has done half of what Fayose has done and still doing.
"When you talk of a leader, my governor, Ayodele Fayose is a leader. My governor is a leader that knows the way, he does not only know the way, he shows the way, he does not only show the way, he walks the way and encourages others to walk through the way; that is the reason we are moving forward. This is the period we need to stand firm, if we are to talk about development in Ekiti, no governor has ever done half of what governor Fayose has done and still doing in Ekiti," Olusola said.
A prominent daughter of the local government, who is also the Secretary to the state government, Dr. Mrs Modupe Alade used the occasion to financially empower youths across the eleven wards of the local government. Alade charged the youths to invest what was given them in businesses that would make them be in control of their lives.
"The empowerment programs of today has two objectives, Number one, to empower the youths across the eleven wards of the Local government, to strengthen them, to have some financial muscle, and be able to stand on their own by establishing small scale businesses that would allow them become self-sufficient and able to contribute their quota to the development of this nation.
"Secondly, to prop up our governor, he's been doing so much for everybody, you know he's a senior advocate of the masses, he has been empowering everyone, the youths, the adults, and the elders, I see this as a privileged opportunity to prop-up his hand, to assist him to empower the youth in my own local government, since I belong to this government and this local government, I have to prop the hand of my leader and political mentor, " Alade said
The SSG also admonished the good people of Ido/Osi to keep supporting Governor Fayose saying PDP is fully on ground in Ekiti. She said, "Continue to support our governor. We have said that we'll standby for 2018, but to God be the glory, we have won the court case, so PDP is already on ground and of a truth, we are on ground everywhere, and by God's Grace, we are going to win the 2018 governorship election."
Enumerating the benefits of continuity, the Executive chairman, Ido/Osi LG, Chief Ayodele Arogbodo said, continuity is needed in Ekiti to help sustain good lagacies of governor Fayose.
"The benefits of continuity is that if you see what happens in Nigeria, when a particular administration embarks on some projects, another one would come and abandon them, and believe they want to do other projects to set records and make name for themselves, but Oshokomole has laid that very good foundation; the dual carriageways in Ado and LG headquarters in Ekiti state, the flyover project, the new King's market, etc, so having someone who keys into that ideology as his successor from the Oshoko political family would be a great thing.
"Ido/Osi has been bedrock of PDP, so it has remained. We believe in the continuity agenda, we believe in his good-for-masses agenda, and we surely believe he's the leader sent to us for this period, so wherever he goes, we go. Fayose leads we follow, that is why PDP is waxing stronger in Ekiti and Ido/Osi in particular," Arogbodo explained.
The LG boss also admonished the good people of Ido/Osi to in their usual manner continue to vote for PDP.
Another prominent daughter of the local government, who's the commissioner for works and transportation, Hon Mrs. Funmi Ogun said Fayose is a leader that sees beyond the immediate. She said with what Governor Fayose is doing in Ekiti, generations to come will no longer see Ekiti as the village they used to call it.
"We thank God for the type of leader we have, the Oshokomole himself. He's a man of vision, he's a man that is determined to transform the state, he's determined to give Ekiti a new look, and as the commissioner for works and transport under him, I am more than happy to key into his vision of modern Ekiti State, so that generation to come will no longer see Ekiti as the village they used to call it.
"Talk about the flyover project, some people think Ekiti does not need it, but when ten lanes were being built in USA, they only needed two lanes. So also in Ekiti, in 2003, when Governor Fayose embarked on the dualization of the state capital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti only needed single lane road, but today, we are thanking him for the dual carriageways in Ado Ekiti. Governor Fayose is futuristic. He doesn't only project for today, he plans for the future," she said.

Evidently, the crowd that greeted the Ido/Osi Continuity rally was a strong message to the opposition in the state that the PDP remains the party to beat. Besides, the rally has also confirmed the general acceptability of the party and showed that Governor Fayose remains the political leader of the state and strong force in Nigeria.
