Intolerance on the part of Ekiti APC

28th November, 2017

"Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits without necessarily sharing or accepting them" - Joshua Liebman.

This would be the second time that I would pen on the political immaturity and intolerance among members of the main opposition party in Ekiti State.

My first article on this matter was written in August last year when the spokesman of the party in the state, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun reported my able friend, Bola Agboola to the Nigeria police for posting negative stories on social media against APC and President Muhammadu Buhari.

In the article, I was able to explain how weak and intolerant most members of APC were and how Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of the state ignorantly elevated Lere Olayinka. I said in the piece that Lere Olayinka would continue to be grateful to God for using Fayemi to boost his profile. Had it been Fayemi did not arrest Lere in 2012, perhaps he wouldn't have gotten to where he is today.

APC as opposition party in Ekiti State is expected to play politics the way the game should be played but reverse is the case. Just because their incessant lies against Chief Ayodele Fayose are nothing to the masses, the best they thought they can do is to continue using police to harass and threaten those telling the masses on social media that APC is a party of deceit and rogues which must not be allowed to rule the state again.

Just last week, Lere Olayinka and other three members of Ekiti State PDP Social Team were invited to appear again at the Police Headquarter, Ado-Ekiti all in the name of giving APC problems on social network.

I was so annoyed when I got to know yesterday that one useless and inconsistent young lawyer, Adeoye Aribasoye was the brain behind the police invitation.

In August, this charge and bail lawyer (Aribasoye) was amongst three lawyers who appeared at the first proceedings of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the state government to look into the finances of the state when Dr. Kayode Fayemi was in saddle.

It was reported that he was at the court to observe on behalf of the former governor but this man came back at the second proceedings to raise an observation that he was not in the court to stand for Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

He made a post on his Facebook page and disparaged Lere Olayinka for telling the masses that he was at the proceedings but before the commission concluded their investigation, the same Aribasoye stood for the former governor. What a confused, inconsistent and inexperienced lawyer!

Aribasoye as a former students' union leader, young lawyer cum politician should be able to make use of his brain and think on something better than writing petition against those who are doing their jobs professionally.

I don't know what Bola Agboola did again that warrants police invitation. What was the offence committed by Debola Akingbade and Akeem Adebomojo? The bitter truth is that APC is feeling the heat and withstanding it is becoming more difficult.

The young lawyer who alleged Lere Olayinka and his team members of cyber crime should know that no member of Ekiti State PDP Social Media Team is into a cyber crime. No one in the team is playing politics with bitterness. And no cheap threat could prevent the team from preaching the political gospel that APC is a useless party.

If Gov. Ayodele Fayose could tolerate their nonsense on social media, what is preventing them from tolerating those who are not on the same page with them? If Aribasoye doesn't like seeing Lere Olayinka calling Dr. Fayemi a thief, he should agree that Fayemi is a spendthrift.

APC Governorship Aspirant, Atinuke Omolayo, Participates in Delegate Congress in Emure

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
