PDP Ex- Councilors chide APC over workers sack in Kogi, Kaduna States

Former Councilors in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the platform of National PDP Ex-Councillors Forum have berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) governments, especially in Kogi and Kaduna States for throwing workers out of jobs instead of creating employments as promised by the party.

The PDP Councilors described the sack of 1,774 workers by the Kogi State government and over 22,000 teachers by the Kaduna State government as wicked, calling the APC leaders to prevail on its governors to stop inflicting pains on Nigerians.

In a release issued on Monday, by the National Publicity Secretary, Hon Sunday Ojosu, the former councilors said that the APC Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello choose to sack 1,774 and compulsorily retire eight Permanent secretaries, some Directors as a New Year gift to the people of the State.

“It is sad to note that a party that rode to power by running fake electioneering campaign promises to Nigeria citizens including mouthwatering three million jobs per year has now turned its back on its citizens by sacking workers at Will.

“It started last November with the Kaduna state governor sacking over 30,000 workers including Teachers and Local government workers under different pretext.

“Thousands of jobs have been lost by Nigeria citizen in the banking sector by downsizing and sacking of worker and many other jobs loss in the private sector thru company folding up and relocations due to economic recessions and hardship caused by bad government policies

“Despite loss of jobs by the masses in private and public sectors, we are aware of the secret employments going on in some of national agencies like Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Federal Inland Revenue Services FIRS, Public Complaint Commission (PCC) and others thru a mandate from the presidency to compensate APC politicians and their family.

“We want to say at this point that President Muhammadu Buhari should call his governors and
appointees to order to rescind from their wickedness and stop adding to the suffering of Nigeria masses thru their selfishness and faceless administrative policies to reduce the rate of job loss and impoverishing Nigerians.

“We advise that If Buhari and his party APC cannot keep to their 2015 electioneering campaign promises of 3 million jobs per year which they have already failed with evidence from loss of millions of job within their two years in office, they should at least not destroy the legacies that PDP has laid down during their tenure to put smiles on the Nigerian faces.”

In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
