Eleka: Another Osoko In The Making

8th February, 2018

Alonge Olufemi Alonso

As the (presumed elitist) Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka alighted from his vehicle in Ilogbo-Ekiti on Friday, 2nd February, 2018 for empowerment cum commissioning of the skill acquisition centre built in the town by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Thaddeus Akinola Aina, one of the kids whom the professor had given gifts during his Christmas visit in December 2017 still recognised him as she shouted Eleka, Eleka and ran to her mother's shop.

Like his boss (Chief Ayodele Fayose), the deputy governor heard the girl, moved straight to the shop, met four children, carried a girl who was the youngest among them and presented her cash gift while the mother, one other woman and the three other children in the shop were also blessed with cash. The mother of the girl and the other woman were shocked to receive their unexpected visitor.

Immediately they heard the name "Eleka", they stood up, left what they were doing and joined us at the point of the commissioning of the skill acquisition centre.

While waiting for the arrival of the Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Edward Ajayi, the Owa of Ilogbo-Ekiti for the commissioning, the deputy governor began to explain what the town would benefit from the skill acquisition centre. Ilogbo people who were at the venue of the commissioning of the project were very happy when he explained that one of the importance of the skill acquisition centre was that it would boost the economic activities of the area as people from different parts of the state would be coming to the town to acquire vocational knowledge.

As the Professor asserted that educational knowledge was no more enough in the country as government could no longer provide white collar jobs for the school leavers in the country and that Ekiti youths should add vocational trainings to their certificates as that would help reduce rate of unemployment in the state, he received rounds of applause from the people he was addressing.

All political actions of the deputy governor in the town petrified some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who graced the occasion such that PDP Youth Leader in Ilogbo Ward, Ayeni Babatope (Ayenco) told me he never believed the Prof. whom everybody thought was no politician could learn so fast.

Those who still think Professor Kolapo Olusola is a stooge shall see the best in him when he becomes number 1 citizen of Ekiti State. As a builder, I see him becoming another great achiever who will not only build on the existing structure of Osokomole but add more meaningful inputs that will rank the state among the beautiful states in the country.

Join us as we say it loud and clear that Eleka is good for Ekiti.

APC Governorship Aspirant, Atinuke Omolayo, Participates in Delegate Congress in Emure

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
