Stop peddling lies on N11bn refund, no State has been paid refund on FG roads - Fayemi's Finance Commissioner

Ekiti State Former Commissioner for Finance,  Mr Dapo Kolawole has said that no state has been paid any refund on construction and rehabilitation of federal roads by the Federal Government.

Kolawole,  who was finance commissioner under the government of Dr Kayode Fayemi said in a statement issued on Wednesday, that the refund on roads by the Federal Government was not only due to Ekiti State but all the 36 (Thirty Six) States of the federation.

He had filed a suit in Abeokuta,  Ogun State, seeking an order of the court to restrain the Federal Government from paying the N11bn refund due to Ekiti State on construction and rehabilitation of federal roads to the Governor Ayodele Fayose led government,  claiming that the roads were constructed by Fayemi's government.

The statement read: "My attention has been drawn to the statement credited to Governor Ayodele Fayose during his “Meet the Your Governor” interview today February 28, 2018 that the case of libel and slander I instituted at the Federal High Court against some principal officials of Ekiti State is denying them N11bn refund due on roads from the Federal Government and the ability to pay salaries to the workers in the state has been dismissed.

"I wish to inform the general public and the good people of Ekiti State that Governor Ayodele Fayose was economical with the truth about the N11bn refund during his “Meet Your Governor” interview.

"For the umpteenth time, the N11bn refund is being challenged in the court as a consequence of several misleading information on the indebtedness of Ekiti State by Governor Fayose against Dr Fayemi since he came on board the affairs of Ekiti State and more so as a result of the  outcome of the recent judicial panel which I believe was as a result of political victimization.

"I wish to also state that the refund on roads by the Federal Government is not only due to Ekiti State but all the 36 (Thirty Six) States of the federation and no state has being paid by the Federal Government any refund till date. Thus, it is only at the point that the Federal Government is paying all states the refund due to them that Governor Fayose could claim that the case in court denied him access to the N11bn refund due to Ekiti State if the case is still pending in court.

"As it stands today, I wish to state that no state of the federation has been paid any refund by the Federal Government. So I advise Governor Ayodele Fayose to stop using the present matter at the court as a cover up to deny the workers of their dues."

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
