Ekiti 2018: Eleka, the best gubernatorial aspirant

02, May 2018

As some of us who are soccer lovers will never agree on who is the best between the Argentine ace footballer, Lionel Messi and the Portuguese superstar, Christiano Ronaldo, so a plethora of question will arise especially from the people who didn't share same interest with me as to the barometer or yardstick I used in measuring the best amongst the arrays of contestants planning to succeed Gov. Ayodele Fayose on October 16.

Without any fear of contradiction, let me say it loud and clear once again that the only professor amongst the aspirants is Prof. Kolapo Olusola Olubunmi (Eleka). And Ekiti as the fountain of knowledge has a right to be governed by one of her best brains.

The young man is not just the most humble, loyal and committed aspirant in Ekiti; he's the first deputy governor in the state that his boss ever vouched for and pushed forward to succeed him. No deputy governor in the state ever enjoyed the type of grace Eleka enjoys today.

Like I said in one of my previous write-ups that humility of the deputy governor is second to none. Those who have had an affair with the deputy governor will never raise question on this. The set of people who can engage me on this thought are those who hate to listen to the truth.

Let me continue by saying the man in question, Eleka as he is fondly callled didn't lobby for the position he occupies today but destiny placed him there and the same mercy he received that made him deputy governor without stress in 2014 is working seriously for him again. I won't be surprised seeing him succeeding his boss, it's so obvious he's destined for that.

If integrity is what Ekiti people will vote for, I don't see any other person who has better integrity and antecedent than the deputy governor. The former PDP governor which some people see as the most prudent aspirant is not as prudent as this well mannered professor from Ikere.

To talk about the level of his intelligence, I need not say much on this because a lazy scholar will never become a professor. A public debate for all aspirants in the state will make those who love people with good brains prefer Eleka to any other aspirant.

We are supporting Eleka because of the confidence which Gov. Peter Ayodele Fayose reposed in him. As a technocrat, we know he will build on the existing structures and come up with new ideas that will industrialise Ekiti State.

Let me end this piece by beseeching Ekiti people not be deceived. The 33 aspirants in the All Progressives Congress have nothing good to offer the state. The people of Ondo State just realized they made a mistake by voting in a party of propaganda and the untold hardship in the country since President Muhammadu Buhari took over power is a good reason Ekiti people should distance themselves from a party of deceit.

Like Eleka used to say, "APC is a cancerous party ", let's therefore say no to them in Ekiti and vote for Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka of the Peoples' Democratic Party. With him, a better Ekiti is assured.

APC Governorship Aspirant, Atinuke Omolayo, Participates in Delegate Congress in Emure

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...

…Promises to Lead Campaign Across 16 LGAs of Ekiti State   September 26, 2025  The cordial relationship between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) was brought into focus on Friday when Honourable Oyetunji Ojo, Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority and son-in-law to President Tinubu, visited the Ekiti State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
