As every political party in Ekiti State embark on series of calculations and strategies before going into political battle field where people will choose who leads them for the next four years. I will like everyone to know that the man destined to succeed Gov. Ayodele Fayose is already known to those who are spiritually and politically inclined. The word "destiny" which some politicians never believe works in politics is what will pave the way for continuity in Ekiti State.
The story of the Biblical Joseph and that of a former head of state and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo gave me great belief in the power of destiny in politics. Due to what they were destined to be, the duo were jailed and after they were released from prisons, they ruled over the people who thought all was over for them.
OBJ spent eight years as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and since the man left office in 2007, he remains a powerful force to reckon with in the country. The bitter truth is that, no president has emerged in the country without being endorsed by OBJ. That's how God made him and there is nothing any man can do about that because it is all about destiny.
The immediate past President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was a university don before he became the second citizen of Bayelsa State. Later, he was elevated to the most coveted political position in the state when his boss was impeached. GEJ was made the Vice - President in 2007 but his boss, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'adua gave up the ghost and Jonathan assumed the office of Presidency without lobbying for it.
Here in Ekiti State, Engr. Segun Oni who was one of the two leading aspirants in the inconclusive yesterday's primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came 3rd during PDP's primaries in 2007 but he was the one who flew the flag of the party during 2007 election in the state. He became the governor while the person who originally won the shadow election, Otunba Yinka Akerele became a wanderer.
Still on the people that never aspired to hold political position but still got to the top. The story of the present Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka is somehow similar to that of GEJ.
Eleka wasn't in anyway known to Chief Ayodele Ayodele as at 2014, but his father was the one Fayose wanted to use as his running mate.
Some highly placed party men felt the senior Eleka was too old, an opinion Fayose couldn't do anything about though he desired to make him his deputy. Fayose was with Pa Eleka when his son, Dr. Olusola now a professor called, after the old man dropped the call, Fayose got to know he has a Ph.D holder son. As destiny would have it, the then Dr. is now the deputy governor of the fountain of knowledge.
Again, Eleka didn't tell his boss that he has a governorship ambition, but the sterling qualities which the deputy governor is endowed with pleased the governor and he had no option than to sell him to the public.
Today, Eleka is a leading aspirant not only in the Peoples Democratic Party but in Ekiti State.
I won't be surprised to see Prof. Kolapo Olusola addressing people as a governor of Ekiti State on October 16, 2018.
