I am coming to serve Ekiti people, their welfare comes first -Eleka

30th May, 2018

Ekiti State Deputy Governor and PDP Candidate for July 14 gubernatorial election, Prof. Kolapo Olusola has reiterated his determination to selflessly serve Ekiti people when he's given the mantle of leadership on October 16, 2018 saying God has sent him to Ekiti State to serve and the welfare and interest of Ekiti people comes first on his agenda.

Prof. Kolapo stressed these at the deputy governor's office on Wednesday while addressing representatives of teachers, LG Staff, Staff of Parastatals and civil servants resident in Ado-Ekiti. The meeting was conveyed at the instance of Osoko Mass Movement under the leadership of its Ekiti State Coordinator, Hon. Wale Ayeni.

Speaking on salary arrears being owed Ekiti workers, Eleka said for 24 years he worked as a lecturer and knows the importance of salary payment hence his need for no lecture on the topic. He assured workers that outstanding salaries will be cleared immediately funds are available.

"For over two months, we have been cleared to get the remaining 50% of Paris Club refund, FG refused to release it to states for political reasons you and I know. It is true we are owing but trust me we'll pay, ours is not a government that will pay half salaries as it is done in Imo and Osun under APC.

"El-rufai promised to sack more workers after election, he said Northern governors under APC agreed to sack teachers, what is the difference between El-rufai and Fayemi? You know I won't sack you, I am one of you, I can't sack myself.

"The Paris Club refund belongs to Ekiti State, If they like let them release it before or after our election, it's your money and you will get it, trust me", Eleka said.

The deputy governor called on Ekiti people not to fall for antics of fraudsters moving around the state asking for electorates' Voter Identification Number (VIN) and fingerprint in the name of fake, non existent empowerment programme.

"Some fraudsters are in town asking for VIN and fingerprint of voters, they said they are here to empower our people, empowerment they did not do last year, I call on you to fill no fraudulent form. Tell them to empower you without collecting your voter's card. Any promise of empowerment that makes the submission of your voter's card number a criteria to benefit is an attempt to defraud you, don't fall for it", he said.

Eleka also used the medium to intimate Ekiti people about his plan for industrial and agricultural revolution of Ekiti State.

"Fayose gave me direct access to information at Abuja, I am already talking to people on Independent Power Generation for without power, we can't develop. We will have a massive industrial park in Ekiti that will be powered by this Independent Power Projects. I will turn Ekiti around in terms of industrialisation, I want to build on existing structures put in place by governor Ayodele Fayose to catapult Ekiti into another realm", Eleka affirmed.

The PDP flag bearer said under his administration, investors will be given enabling environment, One year tax holiday even as he will encourage many to go into mechanised farming. The Professor of Building Technology also promised the establishment of cottage industries through which jobs will be generated for all and sundry.

Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
