Stop Destroying Opponents Billboards, Posters; Ekiti Obas Caution APC/Fayemi

The Ekiti council of Obas yesterday frowned at hooliganry of APC and it's governorship candidate in the July 14 election, Dr Kayode Fayemi, and warned the party to desist from acts capable of causing unrest in Ekiti. The Kabiyesis made this known in a meeting held with politicians in the ultramodern hall at the Palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti.

The meeting with all the political parties and their candidates was at the instance of all Ekiti Obas and it was aimed at fostering unity, amongst political parties and to ensure violence-free electioneering processes.

The Obas who expressed their displeasures at the ways members of All Political Congress have been going about their campaign said Ekiti belongs to all and no traditional ruler, political ruler or any other political party has the right to debar other parties from campaigning in any Ekiti towns and villages.

Addressing the candidates and their followers, the Chairman, Ekiti state council of Obas, HRM Oba Ademolaju, Oloye of Oye Ekiti said they will not sit idly and watch Ekiti turn to war zone.

He said the only act capable of turning Ekiti to a war zone was when a party decided to play fast on the other parties, adding that Ekiti people detest cheating.

In his address, Ewi of Ado Ekiti, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe advised the candidates to be tolerant noting that it's God that crowns a King. He said God has already chosen the next governor of Ekiti state. He however prayed that whosoever planing to truncate the peace Ekiti is currently enjoying shall know no peace.

Responding, PDP governorship candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola (Eleka) on behalf of PDP assured Ekiti Obas and other political parties of peaceful campaign and electioneering processes, adding that PDP is noted for peace.

"You have admonished us as fathers, in my own party, PDP, we love peace and we pursue it, but you will help us Sirs appeal to APC to stop destroying our campaign billboards, banners and posters.

" They have been destroying our campaign materials everywhere they have been to, to campaign. This provocative action of theirs can not bring peace. It is not acceptable, we have reported officially and we are making it known to you now as our Fathers; from our end here, we have told our followers not to retaliate, because we want peace.

"In PDP, we are assuring you that because we have it at the innermost and at the center of our heart the development and progress of Ekiti, be rest assured Sirs, we will work towards ensuring peace in all our campaigns and we will continue to monitor the activities of our followers, so that they can work within the exact laws and regulations of our land," he said.

Rising in unison, the Obas warned APC to stop provoking other parties and proclaimed that no party should destroy another party's campaign materials again. The Obas later prayed for all the politicians in the meeting and committed the Ekiti into hand of God.

PDP was represented by its gubernatorial candidate, Prof Kolapo Olusola Eleka; Director General, Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organization, Otunba Bisi Kolawole; PDP state chairman, Barrister Gboyega Oguntuase, and PDP state legal adviser, Barrister Olowolafe.

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
