Adeyeye directs supporters to vote for SDP over humiliation from Fayemi

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples' Democratic party (PDP), Prince Dayo Adeyeye, has directed his supporters to vote for the SDP candidate, Mr Akin Ayegbusi in the gubernatorial election that will be held today.

Adeyeye gave the directive yesterday evening during an emergency meeting held with his supporters at his Ado Ekiti residence. The directive may not be unconnected with the way and manner the APC gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, lashed out at him during a meeting on Thursday afternoon.

An online media (not Nigerian Mirror) had broken the news of the disagreement between the two over allegations of diversion of funds levelled against Adeyeye by PDP defectors who were meant to be the beneficiary of the fund to use for 'mobilising' PDP members to vote for the APC.

A source present at the meeting confirmed to our reporter that Prince Adeyeye was quite furious that Fayemi who was quite younger to him called him a rapacious and avaricious old man over spurious accusation of diversion of fund.

"I did not deduct a Kobo from the money he (referring to Fayemi) gave to me to share to the defectors. What I did was share the money according to the voting strength of the polling units which made some to get more money than others. He did not even allow me to say anything before he started throwing insults at me at my age; I am well over sixty years.", Adeyeye said at the meeting.

The former governorship aspirant of the PDP was quoted to have directed his supporters to vote for the SDP candidate, Mr Akin Ayegbusi; saying Fayemi has shown his autocratic nature and cannot be trusted to fulfill all the promises he made to him before he decided to join ship with him.

Nigerian Mirror recall that Prince Adeyeye defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after he lost the gubernatorial primary to Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
