BREAKING: Fayemi suspends aide for announcing registration of Fulani herdsmen in Ekiti

For insisting that Fulani herdsmen must be registered in Ekiti, the State Governor, Kayode Fayemi has suspended Sola Durodola, Coordinator of Anti-Grazing Task Force Marshals.

Durodola had disclosed to reporters on Saturday, that Governor Fayemi, in a bid to stem herdsmen attack on farmers and residents, the State government will conduct a registration of herdsmen in Ekiti.

He explained that the registration of the herdsmen would assist the government to know their number and be able to trace any act of criminality carried out by any of them in any part of the state.

However, this report drew the ire of Fayemi, who had earlier warned the Anti-Grazing Coordinator never to engage in anything that will portray the government as being anti-herdsmen.

A government house source said Governor Fayemi was particularly angry that the newspaper report on registration of herdsmen in Ekiti will anger President Buhari as well as the presidency cabal.

"Anything against Fulani herdsmen is a direct affront against the President and what that boy (Sola) did is capable of putting my Presidential ambition in jeopardy.

"Just go and suspend him indefinitely and he must never be seen in this government again," a source quoted Fayemi to have told the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji on phone.

Earlier today, the Ekiti State government had issued a statement, dissociating itself from the reported planned registration of herdsmen in the State.

In a statement from the office of the Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Values Orientation, Aare Muyiwa Olumilua, the news was described as "fake and irresponsible, and does not represent the plans of the Dr Kayode Fayemi led administration, neither does it have the approval of the governor."

Announcing Durodola's indefinite suspension, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Yinka Oyebode said in a letter of suspension dated, May 13th, 2019 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Biodun Oyebanji,  Durodola was told to hand over all government properties in his custody to the Director of Anti –Grazing.

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
