Nsima Ekere's call for nullification of 2019 election: A cry of a shameless politician ~ Richard Peters

I was shocked to my marrow when I heard that the APC gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 election, Obong Nsima Ekere who testified at the election tribunal , prayed the tribunal to nullify the election, which according to him was marred by violence, vote buying, rigging and othe electoral irregularities. He further alleged that he won the election according to the unit results presented by his agents, claiming that INEC's declaration was not correct. But the question that still probes a concerned mind is, why would Nsima call for the cancellation of the election he clearly won?

The testimony granted in court by Obong Nsima Ekere, clearly shows that he is such a shameless and futile man, because no sensible person, who claimed he won an election whose petition is still pending in court would wish that the election be canceled, rather he would follow up the process to the end and reclaim his so called stolen mandate.

This shameless display by Nsima Ekere reminds me of the biblical story in 1st kings 3-16-28 ,about two women who were arguing about the rightful owner of a dead and a living child. When the king was set to give judgement, the real mother told Solomon not to divide the child, rather, the living child should be given to the woman who claimed the living child was her own. The owner of the dead child was discovered by King Solomon because of her insistence on having the child divided (killed). The truth is,no real mother can stand the killing of her child. That is the same thing Nsima Ekere is doing by going to the tribunal to ask for the nullification of the election, because he knows he lost woefully. Just like the fake mother who claimed the living child was hers said, " He shall be neither mine nor yours, divide him" ,Nsima Ekere wants the election to be cancelled ,so that it would be neither his nor Governor Udom, but the judges are wiser.

When all Israel heard of the judgement which king Solomon had handed down, they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to administer justice. The tribunal judges from his action can sense pure desperation in the prayers of Nsima Ekere and he will be disgraced again, because the election will not be nullified.

A very confused man, with a party full of betrayers, after filing an application for the certified true copies of the ballot papers that were in more than 2000 polling units, which the court granted him, till today he has refused to verify and retrieve the ballots papers, even after INEC had issued a reminder to his legal team. Instead, the shameless and frustrated loser decided to went to court and vomited rubbish, by saying that the ballots papers are not necessarily proof of victory.

If the ballots papers are not necessarily proof of victory, why did Nsima Ekere's legal team file an application for its released?

I thank God that Akwa Ibom people rejected Nsima Ekere and his evil plans in the last election. A man with a dubious character, who led a walk out from his former party, the PDP and the entire people of the state to form G22, which he used to secure a job at NDDC and used it to defraud the citizens of the state, the same people he wanted to govern. God forbid!

Instead of using his position to contribute to the development of the state, he was busy playing politics with the job with desperation to be governor. Aside giving people voodoo(mbiam) with fake contract papers, he awarded contracts  to some people within the state, that brought untold hardship to those that collected the contract which he refused to pay after the work was done.

Imagine deceiving a group of people called ONE FAITH with a contract of just 15million naira to renovate a primary school at Esit Eket, and others in Eket, Uyo, Oron, without paying a dime, to the extent that one Bassey sold his petrol station at Marina road in Eket to pay those he collected money and materials to carry out the NDDC contract Nsima Ekere awarded him. What inhumanity? What wickedness?

The lies Nsima Ekere told the tribunal are so despicable. Imagine standing before the tribunal to talk about the fact that the election was marred with violence. This is the same man that conspired with Senator Akpabio, Adams Oshiomole and others to import  thugs from Edo state, and contracted militants  with hilux and walking sticks, referring to  them as investors and contractors, giving them money in dollars just to kill the people and win election. If the militants and the thugs he consulted did what he bargained for, would he  had called for the cancellation of the election? If Mike Igini had compromised to do his bidding, would he had still call for the nullification of the election?

A man who was ready to shed the blood of innocent citizens of this state, can never govern this state, his call for the nullification of the election is as a result of his frustrated from all his  tactics which he put out to release terror on the state and make Akwa Ibom state to be regarded as a flashpoint for cancellation of the election, but the plan failed. He again wrote results and won 28 local governments areas but could not swap it at the collation centres even with the help of the military and some compromised police officers and because Igini signed at the back of all the original results sheets. This call for the nullification of the election too will fail.

This same frustrated loser sent one Maurice Ekpenyong to bribe Mike Igini with 2billion naira, which Igini a man of proven integrity declined them access to meet him, he again arranged a meeting with Igini at Dubai, he again rejected. I ask again, If Mike Igini had collected bribe from Nsima Ekere and compromised the election, would Nsima Ekere still stand before the court and ask for an election that was peaceful, credible and transparent(except in Essien Udim) to be nullified? Remember, it was because of this that they went to two different courts seeking the removal of Mike Igini, but the court refused their application.

A man who as NDDC boss had over 87 petitions, uncountable protest and several court cases, who was later sacked due to fraud does not have the capacity to hold any public office again, talk more of being a governor. Such desperation is unheard off. He paid dollars to some adhoc staff, but unfortunately, those staff were reshuffled. They proposed to bomb Igini's car and burn down INEC offices. What evil has Nsima not done out of desperation to be a governor?

I think his frustration should be channeled to the elders and leaders of his party, APC, the likes of Ita Enang, Umana Okon Umana, Ini okopidop, Don Etiebiet, Udoedehe, and Nelson Effiong, who duped him of millions of dollars and refused to work for him. One thing is certain, the election would not be cancelled. If Nsima is tired of seeing failure in his life, he should just retire.

APC Governorship Aspirant, Atinuke Omolayo, Participates in Delegate Congress in Emure

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
