Probe on NDDC will bury APC in Akwa Ibom - APC Chieftain

Probe on NDDC will bury APC in Akwa Ibom - APC Chieftain

A leading Chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State and one of the coordinators of the 2019 APC Campaigns Council, Mr Solomon  Johnny has accused Chief Godswill Akpabio of launching attacks against the Ibibios who are the largest ethnic group in the state.

In a message put up on his Facebook media platform, Solomon who started by saying "APC has been killed in Akwa Ibom State",  wondered why Chief Godswill Akpabio has decided to instigate a forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC that may likely ruin Obong Nsima Ekere, its immediate past Managing  Director..

He alleged that a similar plot was hatched against Amb. Sam Edem who headed the commission some 15 years during Akpabio's reign as Governor.

"A false alarm was raised against Ambassador Sam Edem, then Chairman of NDDC. Before we could understand what was going on, Ambassador Edem was manipulated, intimidated, harassed and  thrown out of NDDC and damaged beyond repays on purely a false alarm. His Excellency, Chief Akpabio was governor then."

Solomon Johnny also outrightly pointed accusing fingers on Chief Akpabio for trying to probe Obong Nsima Ekere despite being aware of the fact that the failed 2019 APC campaigns in Akwa Ibom was funded from the NDDC confers by the immediate past Managing Director of the Commission.

Johnny also faulted an alleged list of new recruits into the NDDC which is said to contain only core supporters of Senator Godswill Akpabio, with Nsima Ekere's blog completely sidelined.

"That employment, like many others in Nigeria, from the look of things, is political...

"Thus, I recommend that when that list is published or finally in operation,  l want to see loyalists of Sen John Udoedehe, Obong Umana Okon Umana, Obong Nsima Ekere, Sen Ita Enang...

"Currently, it is only loyalists of Chief Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Niger Delta that are there rightly or wrongly.

"That's is totally unacceptable and a call for war which we shall not fail to fight if need be.

" Again these leaders should not tell me that Chief Akpabio took the entire Akwa Ibom slots by himself and for his loyalists. Why? How?

He insisted that it could not be coincidental that Akpabio, of  Annang extraction, could be at the vanguard of the probe on Ekere who from Ibibio ethnic group.

"Now Nsima Ekere just left the NDDC. He singlehandedly funded the APC in Akwa Ibom State and is the target and coincidentally, Chief Akpabio is the Minister. How? Why Akpabio again and where is this leading us to?"

My Johnny has however asked APC members in Akwa Ibom to guard themselves against the attacks of Chief Akpabio whose 'greed' led to the collapse and total destruction of the APC at the just concluded polls.

"Listen, call His Excellency(Akpabio) to order and let him appreciate the fact that he cannot dominate the process all by himself and against so many interests which have remained unattended to since 2011.

Issuing a subtle threat, Johnny who is a Pastor at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, said,

"We shall drop this garb of gentility we are wearing around and face it frontally and politically too. I think we go put sand sand for these garri make everybody go sleep empty belle. Nsuto mkpo!

"Now that this rain is just starting, let us call the rain makers so that our roofs are not blown by the winds," he added.

Reacting to this, the chairman of theAPC Youth Caucus in Akwa Ibom, Iniobong John dismissed the allegations as flimsy.

In a statement in Uyo, he advise all aggrieved party members to understand that the audit probe on NDDC is not an attack on Nsima Ekere, but a probe on contractors who have abandoned their projects.

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
