Nsima Ekere Allegedly Writes Buhari, Seeks Manipulation at Supreme Court

The 2019 gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Obong Nsima Ekere, has written to President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in his case at the Supreme Court.

Ekere in a leaked letter allegedly addressed to President Buhari on Tuesday, December 3, pleaded for leniency and intervention from the presidency.

Respectfully, I write to solicit your Excellency’s intervention in my case at the Supreme Court.

The letter reads in part:

“You would recall, your Excellency that my political ambition suffered a deep setback since the results of the just concluded governorship election in Akwa Ibom state was announced in favour of the opposition Party – PDP”.

“Sequel to that, I stopped at noting to ensure an upturn of Judgements which followed the Tribunal and Appeal Courts ruling, all to no avail”.

The former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) noted that he has since the defeat, “run out of options and help from friends and allies” whom he thought would be instrumental to his victory at the Tribunal and Appeal Court.

“Even the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, whom I counted on to help me use his long legs breakthrough the stiffness of the Court’s Judges did not so much as to lift a finger in my favour”, Ekere said in the letter.

The victor-hopeful however noted that his supporters were still very optimistic of his triumph and were not giving up on his bid.

“I humbly appeal that you consider me as you’ve always done with merit”, Ekere said.

He called on the President to consider his expenditure and sacrifice for the Party in the buildup to the election, and do something to reward his efforts.

“Without mention, Your Excellency, I spent a fortune on the build-up to the election, the election proper, and the post elections so much that it would be an effort in futility to turn back and relapse into acceptance hence, my appeal for your intervention”.

Specifically, Nsima Ekere allegedly called on the President to see to the replacement of the Supreme Court Judges with “those loyal to the ruling party – APC, to ensure a fair judgement” on his behalf.

He expressed optimism that the President would oblige his request and reward his commitment to the creed of the Party.

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
