Owa of Ilogbo-Ekiti hails South West Governors on Operation Amotekun
The Owa of Ilogbo-Ekiti, Oba (Dr) Edward Ajayi has commended the south West governors on establishment of the new security outfit in the region, "Operation Amotekun" ,saying they took right action at the right time.
The monarch commended the governors recently in Ilogbo-Ekiti, during the thanksgiving ceremony of 25th anniversary of his coronation.
He said he was in support of Amotekun because it would help to combat the insecurity in the region.
While giving thanks to God at Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Ooye, Ilogbo-Ekiti, the king beseeched all indigenes of the town to see love as their watchword and to always find fact, before reacting to issues, adding that a community where its people love themselves will be living in unity.
The monarch ,who was chased out of the town in 2018 by some irate youths when a problem ensued between one of his sons and the community youths,said he had a joyous and glorified experience on the throne in the last twenty five years, aside the ugly incident of 2018.
The traditional ruler added that his joy has been the level of development witnessed in the community since he succeeded his father's throne, saying the town has gone places .
He cited construction of the township road, Ilogbo-Ido road, extension of street lights, pipe borne water and establishment of new schools (Celestial Primary School and Teedek Polytechnic) as part of new development witnessed in the town in the last twenty five years.
He made an appeal to the state government to the state government to remember Ilogbo-Ekiti with more dividends of democracy.
In his remarks, the District Coordination Council, Ilogbo-Ekiti, Pastor Julius Abiona charged Ekiti monarchs and Nigerians to speak in one voice and pray fervently against insecurity in the country.
The clergy man condemned the killings of chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State and that of the trado medical expert (Oko Oloyun) who was murdered by unknown gunmen.
He added that everybody is now afraid of Fulani herders, saying Nigeria is no more a country where security of lives and property are guaranteed.
Abiona appealed to all the traditional rulers who attended the event to use their position to protect their towns,adding that any king who knows God would have his people and towns protected by God.
