The Man BAO Before Becoming a Governor

Debola Akingbade

One of the errand boys of these WhatsApp aspirants asked, "Who was BAO before becoming a governor gan?" Well, to put it simply, BAO is a life dedicated to Ekiti’s progress.

For Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Ekiti's development agenda is his life’s purpose, and it has always been about Ekiti’s development.

From his early days as the Secretary to the Committee on the Creation of Ekiti State in 1996, Oyebanji has been deeply woven into the fabric of Ekiti’s growth.

At a time when many were unsure of the state's future, he was at the center of the struggle, working behind the scenes to turn the dream of an independent Ekiti into reality. That is the man Oyebanji before becoming the governor.

His journey since then has been a continuous story of service. As Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, he helped shape policies that set Ekiti on the path of sustainable development.

As Chief of Staff and later Secretary to the State Government (SSG), he remained a key figure in driving governance and economic reforms.

Even when not in the limelight, Oyebanji was always working to ensure that Ekiti prospered. That is the man Oyebanji before becoming a governor.

Now, as Governor, his vision remains unchanged, and that vision is to see Ekiti thrive. His administration is focused on infrastructure renewal, economic empowerment, investment promotion, and improving the lives of ordinary Ekiti people.

For Oyebanji, unlike others, governance is not about personal ambition, nor does he see power as a means to settle old scores. It's about identifying with the people and the land that made him.

They should please tell us who their principal is to Ekiti and what contributions he has made to the development of Ekiti before aspiring to be governor. They should tell us how he has benefited the state.

Ekiti’s journey is far from over, and we will not entrust the future of the state to people who want power just for their personal gain, those who want to be governor for selfish desires.

With our own BAO at the helm, one thing is certain... THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT.

  1. As matured people, we need to know that everybody cannot be pro BAO. He wants to know and justice had been done as to that.
We need not describe anyone as errand boy. Afterall we have seen those who appear 100% loyal now betraying their benefactors. Those in darkness need to be brought to light as in the case of Paul in the Bible. He surpassed even any of the disciples.

APC Governorship Aspirant, Atinuke Omolayo, Participates in Delegate Congress in Emure

October 25, 2025 A former governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo (née Okeya), who was duly screened and cleared by the party’s National Screening Committee, has demonstrated uncommon party loyalty by stepping down for Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji and actively participating in the delegate congress held today in her Eporo Ward, Emure Local Government Area. Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. She explained that her decision to step down for Governor Oyebanji was informed by his wide acceptability across the state, sterling performances in office, and commitment to Ekiti’s growth and development, which she described as derivatives of continuity. While addressing the crowd, Mrs. Omolayo urged party members in Eporo Ward...

Ignore Rumours: APC Confirms Governor Oyebanji’s Name to Be Submitted to INEC on January 16, 2026

…As APC Spokesperson Reiterates Official Candidate List Ahead of Publication The APC Integrity Caucus has moved to dismiss what it describes as a reckless and senseless rumour being circulated by a few individuals posing as party members. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
