Ekiti Government Reaffirms Commitment to Agricultural Growth, Inspects Cocoa and Palm Oil Seedling Farms
As part of ongoing efforts to boost agricultural development in Ekiti State, senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture have embarked on an extensive inspection tour of cocoa and palm oil seedling farms across four key locations in the state.
Led by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Ebenezer Babatope Ojo, the delegation, which included the Director of Tree Crops, the Director of Procurement, and the Director of Administration and Supplies, assessed the quality, growth, and distribution of seedlings to ensure that farmers receive the best resources to enhance productivity.
Speaking during the inspection, the team expressed satisfaction with the progress recorded so far, noting that the state government’s investment in agriculture is yielding tangible results.
"Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji’s administration is deeply committed to making Ekiti a hub for agricultural excellence. The government’s continued investment in high-yield seedlings and farmer support programs is already transforming the sector, ensuring food security and economic prosperity for our people," Babatope stated.
The team reaffirmed the government’s dedication to supporting local farmers through access to quality seedlings, training, and infrastructural development aimed at improving yields and profitability.
This initiative aligns with Governor Oyebanji’s broader vision to reposition agriculture as a key driver of Ekiti’s economy, with a focus on job creation, rural development, and sustainable food production.
Farmers across the inspected locations expressed gratitude for the government’s intervention, emphasizing that the improved seedlings and support programs have significantly boosted their output.
With ongoing efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector, the Oyebanji-led administration continues to set a solid foundation for long-term agricultural prosperity in Ekiti State.
