"His administration has successfully implemented flood mitigation projects, such as dredging rivers and channelizing flood-prone areas, like Elemi and Ureje rivers in Ado Ekiti among others.
And the Governor has immediately reacted and reached out to the Ekiti State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assess affected areas and provide assistance' Eki Asipa Adarabierin remarked.
The Secretary of the group, Eki Ope Olanipekun while commiserating with the victims of the flood urged affected residents to remain composed during this difficult time and acknowledged the devastating impact on their families.
The group also called on humanitarian organizations in and out of the state to support government in providing assistance to those affected, including support for rebuilding and recovery efforts.
"We call on the relevant authorities to quickly respond to this crisis and provide the necessary aid to help our brothers and sisters in Ado Ekiti rebuild their lives," the group added.
According to the duo, the group plans to visit some of the affected areas and provide some form of assistance to those who are still grappling with the aftermath of the disaster.
The heavy downpour, which lasted for several hours, caused widespread damage to homes, businesses, and infrastructure in various parts of the city, leaving many people stranded as floodwaters overflow their homes and shops, resulting in loss of property and livelihoods.
