In a renewed effort to boost food production and support farmers across the state, the Ekiti State Government has approved a 50% subsidy on high-quality crop protection products for maize, cassava, rice, and cocoa farmers.
The announcement was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, who described the move as part of the Oyebanji-led administration’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural value chain and supporting rural livelihoods.
The distribution of the subsidised products will be officially flagged off tomorrow, 2nd June, 2025..
According to Mr. Boluwade, the intervention is a partnership between the state government and Saro Agro Sciences Ltd, a reputable indigenous agrochemical company with decades of experience in the field. The company will not only supply the products but will also provide farmers with after-sales services and technical support on best agronomic practices.
“This move is poised to make crop protection products affordable. Also to empower our farmers with the right knowledge and tools to protect their crops and increase yields,” the Commissioner said.
