APC Renewed Hope Guard Defends Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, Slams Opposition Over Falsehoods

The APC Renewed Hope Guard in Ekiti State has come out strongly against what it described as a "desperate smear campaign" orchestrated by opposition elements to tarnish the image of Her Excellency, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its State Coordinator, Comrade Bamidele Fadahunsi, the group warned political detractors to "keep Dr. Oyebanji’s name out of their fabricated tales" and focus instead on meaningful engagement with the people of Ekiti.

“Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji is not a politician. She is a respected academic, an Associate Professor with a sterling reputation. Her sabbatical leave in 2022 was officially approved so she could support her husband during the governorship race. It had nothing to do with politics and everything to do with partnership,” the statement read.

The Renewed Hope Guard further clarified that the First Lady has since returned to her academic pursuits and is currently working towards attaining full Professorship.

Turning attention to the governor, the group described Biodun Oyebanji as “a man whose life is rooted in principle, transparency, and moral strength,” adding that no amount of political blackmail could diminish the governor’s record of service or the trust he enjoys across the state.

The group also debunked claims that the ongoing Ekiti Women Mobilization Tour is a government affair, stressing that it is a purely party-led initiative being coordinated by the APC Women Leader and other party executives.

“It is not a government project. It is an APC party programme. The participation of some state executive members in the tour is only to support the party women, not to usurp the functions of party executives,” Fadahunsi clarified.

He emphasized that Governor Oyebanji has consistently advocated for the party structure to return to the grassroots and for leadership to remain in the hands of those elected to manage it.

“Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji understands governance and respects institutional boundaries. She is not one to dabble in party politics or hijack roles. Anyone advocating that is either ignorant or deliberately mischievous,” he added.

The Renewed Hope Guard described the opposition’s claims as “clickbait propaganda” rooted in envy of the state’s current peace and developmental progress.

“Instead of offering fresh ideas or meaningful criticism, they churn out petty gossip in hopes of staying relevant. Unfortunately for them, Ekiti people have become wiser,” the group said.

The statement concluded by urging the public to disregard the “sponsored drama” and stay focused on the ongoing progress being recorded under the Renewed Hope Agenda of Governor Oyebanji.

Mrs. Omolayo, who was warmly received with an Ọ̀wọ̀ song by jubilant party members, expressed appreciation to her ward for the support they gave her when she initially declared her intention to contest for governor. The gossip, they said, claims that the party “does not intend to submit” the name of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). In a statement released on Thursday, November 14, 2025, the caucus said such claims are baseless and should be ignored by every well-meaning member of the public. “Since the successful conduct of our governorship primary on October 27 and the ratification by authorised delegates on October 29, some mischief makers have been whispering that the party will not submit Governor Oyebanji’s name to INEC. This is completely false,” the statement read. The caucus emphasized that the APC operates according to a clearly defined timetable, which specifies the dates for submissio...
