Former Governor Ayo Fayose, the undisputed leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has openly thrown his weight behind the continuity of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration.
Fayose emphasized that a second term for Oyebanji is essential to maintain the momentum of ongoing projects and development initiatives across the state. For him, breaking the cycle of abrupt policy shifts and incomplete programs is key to ensuring lasting impact.
“The state cannot afford to disrupt the progress already achieved,” Fayose stated. “Continuity is necessary to consolidate developmental gains and give ongoing programs the time and stability they require to produce meaningful results.”
This endorsement from the party’s leading figure signals a clear path for PDP members in Ekiti. Sources within the party suggest that any internal political maneuvering against the incumbent would face serious resistance, given Fayose’s central role in guiding party strategy.
When reached for comment, PDP State Publicity Secretary, Builder Femi Philips, noted that the party remains committed to supporting candidates who emerge through its established processes. “Every candidate that emerges through the lawful process of the party will be fully supported,” he said.
Fayose’s public stance shows the influence he wields over the party’s rank and file. Within Ekiti PDP, the expectation is where Fayose leads, the party will surely follow.
For now, continuity under Governor Oyebanji remains the shared priority, with development and party unity closely intertwined.
