Top leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State on Tuesday took to radio stations across the state, projecting a strong re-election outing for Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the 2026 governorship poll.
The Director-General of the BAO Campaign Council, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, led the conversation, alongside the Commissioner for Information and Director, Media and Communications Directorate, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, as well as the Director-General, Community Communications, Hon. Mrs. Mary Osho-Omotosho.
Speaking during the live radio programme monitored across Ekiti, the APC chieftains expressed confidence in the party’s chances, anchoring their optimism on the Governor’s performance, inclusiveness, and the unity within the party.
Fasuyi said the APC is not just preparing for victory but aiming to set a new electoral record in the state.
“We have a record to set, to be the first governor to win all 2,445 polling units and the first to secure back-to-back victories,” he said.
He explained that the party has strategically positioned itself across the 177 wards, stressing that Oyebanji’s growing popularity has significantly strengthened the APC’s base.
“In 2022, a majority of the votes went to the APC, even though not everyone knew Oyebanji. Today, BAO is known across Ekiti. This election is predominantly about BAO and the APC, driven by his performance as Governor,” Fasuyi stated.
He also disclosed that the party has set a bold target of 500,000 votes.
“We are setting a benchmark of 500,000 votes for Governor Oyebanji. We have a clear vision, and we are ready to make history,” he added.
On his part, Olatunbosun described Oyebanji as a leader whose humility and people-centered governance style have redefined leadership in the state.
“It is difficult to capture the Governor in a few minutes. He has demystified the office of Governor through his humility. Every sector is benefiting from his inclusive leadership,” he said.
Highlighting key achievements, he pointed to road infrastructure linking different parts of the state, renovation of 21 general hospitals, and agricultural initiatives that have opened up over 5,000 hectares of land for youths.
“The Governor has turned Ekiti into an Eldorado in terms of roads, security, and infrastructure. There is no community that is not benefiting,” Olatunbosun said.
Also speaking, Osho-Omotosho emphasized the Governor’s accessibility, noting that deliberate communication channels have been established to keep the government connected with the people.
“Governor Oyebanji has established multiple communication channels that enhance accessibility and may well make him the most accessible Governor in Nigeria,” she said.
She added that the Governor’s inclusive approach has earned him widespread trust, urging residents not to be complacent ahead of the election.
“I know there are people saying the Governor has already won, but we don’t want complacency. Everybody should come out and vote. We don’t use the thumb; we use the index finger to avoid void votes,” she advised.
Olatunbosun also warned against any attempt to disrupt the peace in the state, stressing that such actions would be met with the full weight of the law.
The APC leaders maintained that the unity within the party remains a key advantage, positioning it strongly as Ekiti prepares for the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
