The Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in Ekiti State, Hon. Ebenezer Boluwade, has expressed optimism about the future of farming in the state, despite the challenges posed by climate change in the 2024 farming season. According to him, while projections for 2024 commodity yields were initially high, changing weather patterns disrupted those expectations. “The data speaks for itself. It's a measurable key performance indicator,” he noted. However, the State Government is already adapting. “We’re retooling through sustainable, climate-smart agricultural practices,” he said, revealing that modular, solar-powered irrigation systems would soon be deployed across farming clusters to mitigate the impact of erratic rainfall patterns.
