Stop planned tariff increment for data services in Nigeria, Group tells, FG, NCC, Telecoms

A group saddled with advocacy for Advancement, Development and sustenance of Democracy in Nigeria, Wailing Wailers, has, Tuesday, asked the Federal Government, the Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC, and Telecommunication companies to abort the planned increment of tariff on data services in the country. In a statement signed by its Ag, Usman Abubakar, it warned that such planned action would lead to rape of democracy and freedom of speech. “Our attention has been drawn to the sinister siege on the Nigerian people and plot against their interest by the Federal Government of Nigeria. INEC rigged Ondo election in advance for APC - Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has lamented the outcome of the Ondo State Governorship election, saying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) connived with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its collaborators in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the election before it was conducted. Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, on Thursday said that the government’s resolve not to shy away from its responsibilities to the people informed the decision to embark on the rehabilitation of some federal roads in the state. INEC should postpone Ondo election in the spirit of fairness -Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to postpone the Ondo State gubernatorial election slated for Saturday 26th November, 2016 in the spirit of fairness. The governor said this at the Ekiti State Government House while reacting to Justice Salauwa's Wednesday ruling which ordered INEC to return Eyitayo Jegede’s name as the PDP candidate for the Ondo election. "My opinion, in the spirit of fairness because this fault is from INEC, there were two judgments, the only one INEC was part of was that of Jegede, in a similar situation like the Edo election, there was no basis for INEC's action, for me, it was INEC's deliberate action to undermine this party and the people of Nigeria. INEC releases names of six candidates for Lagos bye-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released names of candidates and political parties participating in the December 3 bye-election into Ifako-Ijaiye Federal Constituency of Lagos State. The participating candidates and political parties were released by the national headquarters of INEC in Abuja, Daily Trust learnt. They are Yusuf Olawale Fatai (Action Alliance, AA); Adebayo Michael Akanbi (Alliance for Democracy, AD); Olugbenga Olusegun Owolabi (Advanced Democratic Congress, ADC); Akinwunmi Nurudeen Olaitan (All Progressives Congress, APC); Babatunde Babatope Akinyele (Peoples Democratic Party, PDP) and Ajiboye Femi Olorunshomi (Social Democratic Party, SDP). With full sitting of the Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal yet to begin, it has emerged that one of the tribunal members, Justice Emmanuel Adesodun was included in the tribunal by the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr Kayode Fayemi , to help sustain the fraud perpetrated during the governorship election.
