Debunking Opponents' Antagonism: Governor Oyebanji's Achievements Speak for Themselves

As Governor Biodun Oyebanji's administration continues to transform Ekiti State, his political opponents seem determined to undermine his efforts. Despite the governor's numerous achievements, they dwell on perceived negatives, ignoring the positive impact of his policies. This article aims to highlight the governor's accomplishments and debunk the antagonism borne out of inferiority complex. Since taking office, Governor Oyebanji has made significant strides in various sectors, of the economy including infrastructure development in which the governor has invested heavily in road construction and rehabilitation, improving the state's connectivity and economic prospects.  Notable projects include the upgrading of major roads, construction of bridges, and rehabilitation of rural roads. On education, Governor Oyebanji's administration has implemented initiatives to enhance education quality, including teacher training, infrastructure upgrades, and provision...

A Perspective on Nigeria's Agricultural Mechanization Programme: Sir Steve Oribamise's View

As I reflect on the Federal Government's rollout of 2,000 tractors under the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, I am filled with excitement and hope. This bold initiative has the potential to revolutionize Nigeria's agricultural sector, enhancing food production and rural development. The programme's ambitious goals include cultivating 550,000 hectares of land, producing over 2 million metric tons of staple food, creating 16,000 jobs, and supporting over half a million farming households. If executed well, this could mark a significant shift in our nation's food sovereignty. However, the success of this initiative hinges on several critical factors. Firstly, the service-provider model and training programme must be transparent and efficient, with robust monitoring systems in place. Secondly, equitable access to these resources is crucial, ensuring that smaller farmers are not left behind. The partnership with Belarus, including training Niger...

Oribamise Stands firm on the Ability of President Tinubu to steer Nigeria to Calmer Waters

Sir Steve Oribamise stood firm in his conviction that President Bola Tinubu was the right leader to steer Nigeria towards calmer waters.  With various reforms underway, Sir Steve expressed his confidence in the President's vision for a stronger nation. "President Tinubu's policies are a testament to his dedication to Nigeria's progress," Sir Steve said. "His administration has shown remarkable resilience in the face of challenges, and the recent vote of confidence from the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Executive Committee is a clear indication of his leadership's effectiveness." One notable example of the President's efforts is in the energy sector, where reforms have improved transparency and encouraged investment. The Managing Director of Sahara Group, Mr. Kola Adesina, has praised these initiatives, highlighting their potential for growth. The reforms, he said include improved transparency and investment opportunities, g...

Ekiti Will Not Sacrifice Meritocracy on the Altar of Incompetence in 2026

By Michael Falodun As the governorship election draws near, it is essential to note that the politically savvy Ekiti electorate, especially those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) background, will not entrust their political future in the hands of a learner when a proven, tested and trusted brand remains readily available. Amidst the noise created by the self-proclaimed "King of Incompetence," Engr. Kayode Ojo, who seems to believe the APC ticket is his birthright, it’s important to recognize that his claims are misleading and disconnected from the political landscape. Let’s recall that Ojo and his associates were actively involved with a different political party in 2022 and have yet to reintegrate into the APC. In fact, this group of political opportunists has not reacquired their memberships in the APC following their defection before the last gubernatorial election. In 2018, Ojo entered the political arena as a relative unknown and faced a decisive defeat...

Hon. Ojosu Blasts Wale Aladeoba, Labels Him “A Political Imbecile”

A loyalist of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Hon. Ojosu Sunday, has taken a swipe at Mr. Wale Aladeoba over a recent social media publication that allegedly attempted to sow discord between Governor Biodun Oyebanji (BAO) and former governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo. In a strongly worded statement shared from Iyin Ekiti, Hon. Ojosu dismissed Wale Aladeoba as “a political paperweight living off lies and hallucinations”, describing his commentary as “a drunken rant from a man who has lost both relevance and reason.” Quoting a popular Yoruba proverb, "Agba o k'ogbon", meaning “not all elders possess wisdom,” Ojosu Sunday said it was unfortunate that people still lend attention to the likes of Aladeoba, whom he accused of “jumping from one political camp to another in pursuit of personal greed.” “To put the record straight, I haven’t set my eyes on Wale Aladeoba in the last five years, not to talk of granting him any interview,” Ojosu declared. “Th...

Ekiti Government Approves Subsidised Crop Protection Products for Farmers

In a renewed effort to boost food production and support farmers across the state, the Ekiti State Government has approved a 50% subsidy on high-quality crop protection products for maize, cassava, rice, and cocoa farmers. The announcement was made by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, who described the move as part of the Oyebanji-led administration’s commitment to strengthening the agricultural value chain and supporting rural livelihoods. The distribution of the subsidised products will be officially flagged off tomorrow, 2nd June, 2025.. According to Mr. Boluwade, the intervention is a partnership between the state government and Saro Agro Sciences Ltd, a reputable indigenous agrochemical company with decades of experience in the field. The company will not only supply the products but will also provide farmers with after-sales services and technical support on best agronomic practices. “This move is poised to make cro...
