The Major Problem Of APC

Alonge Olufemi Alonso Each time I see members of APC lamenting after losing an election, I remember my fellow comrade and course mate, Osunpidan Olusegun (Alagba) of the Aluta Republic of Fedpoffa. In 2010, Segun was the Students' Union Government Presidential's candidate under our dear movement, Campus Democratic (CDM) a.k.a Winning Team, now Revolution. He came third at the election. One day, we were receiving one of our toughest lectures when he whispered to my ears that we had to leave the class to attend inauguration of the S.U.G, I had no objection than to oblige. On getting to the venue, we received encomium from the same students who rejected us when their supports were needed, we were recognised beyond what we expected and the person anchoring the programme had no option than to join other students to recognize our presence and thereafter, microphone was handed over to the wounded S.U.G Presidential candidate for his remarks. What Segun said then remains the...

Ekiti: The Fountain of Knowledge

By Alonge Olufemi Alonso No doubt, Ekiti is the smallest and the youngest state in South West Nigeria. The state was carved out from Ondo State and when Late General. Sanni Abacha, the then head of state pronounced the state in 1996, there was wild jubilation in both Ekiti and Ondo. While the people of Ekiti were happy for their liberation, the people of Ondo State were happy that relief has finally come. I heard people in Akure saying their state would now be peaceful as the troublesome people among them had been given power and liberty to stand on their own. They were saying petitions would stop in their state. As small as the state is, nobody in the state jokes with education. We don't produce many successful business men and women but we have many professors. During military era, the state was lucky to produce Col. Adekunle Fajuyi and General Adeyinka Adebayo as Governors of the South West region. In politics, Ekiti cannot compete with other states in Nigeria. We ...

RE: LEGISLATIVE RASCALITY AS EKITI REPS MEMBER SHUNS JOURNALISTS AT THANKSGIVING EVENT

17/06/2017 My attention has been drawn to a letter to the editor, published on 4th of June,2017 by Orient Media Group ,titled “LEGISLATIVE RASCALITY AS EKITI REPS MEMBER SHUNS JOURNALISTS AT THANKSGIVING EVENT” challenging Hon. Akinyede Julius Awodumila, Former Executive Chairman of Gbonyin Local Government and currently representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II in the House of Representatives that he shunned journalists AND REPRESENTATIVE OF Ekiti State Television at the Thanksgiving ceremony organized to mark his two years as a federal lawmaker. The event was held in his residence at Ode-Ekiti, Gbonyin Local Government Area of Ekiti State. However, this is ludicrous and mere blackmail as there was no time it happened that day. Awodumila is a reputable man with all attributes of good leader who calls everybody his leader despite his position. On this faithful day,all Journalists, including social Media of difference groups that was present were attended to despite the str...
