Chairman, Ekiti State Council of Obas and the Ologotun of Ogotun Ekiti, Oba Samuel Oladapo Oyebade on Friday said lack of continuity in Ekiti politics has negatively affected him and his community. The first class Oba made this known while playing host to Ekiti former Commissioner for Works and governorship aspirant, Mr. Kayode Oso in his palace. Mr. Oso had stormed Ologotun's palace with some of his associates to preach the continuity gospel in accordance with the Ayodele Fayose political ideology and school of thought. He explained that only continuity can bring about sustained development as well as the realisation of mission and vision of the Fayose political institute. Sanni Abacha, the then head of state pronounced the state in 1996, there was wild jubilation in both Ekiti and Ondo. Embattled Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), which was recently, renamed Adeyinka Adebayo University, Professor Kayode Soremekun squandered over N500 million within 12 months, this has been revealed. “About N10 million is spent on contingencies monthly while over N200 million was lavished on Christmas and New Year Gifts in December last year,” a source alleged. Sources within the university disclosed that last week alone, Prof Soremekun, who until his appointment was a lecturer at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), took a sum of N5.7 million from the coffers of the university. The N5.7 million, which was allegedly withdrawn in cash and transported by a bursary staff was to furnish his already furnished residence of the Vice Chancellor.
